I haven't done a lot since getting home from work today. Hubby has had to go back into work tonight but will be home within an hour or so; he's also being fed at work tonight so just me to cater for tonight.
I've unstacked the dishwasher but that's pretty much all I've done! I'm off to have a soak in the bath shortly, hopefully the steam will help the cough a little.
Have a good evening all

I saw "One born every minute" for the first time this week. I thought I would only watch the first few minutes, but it was oddly engaging and I ended up watching to the end. It was like stepping back in time seeing the department and staff - I didn't realise anywhere was still like that. I was wondering if you were watching!Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Wish I hadn't watched it now Chocs! EEK!
Another night of very little sleep last night, guess I'm getting the practice in early eh?! I'm feeling better than yesterday though so hopefully this virus is on its way out now, I could really do with some sleep.
21p has been transferred into the ML account today and hubby is going to pay the £20 into the bank at lunchtime, so I can update the signature shortly.
The pre-paid mobile phone recycling envelope arrived yesterday so I'll look at getting those packaged and sent soon.
The security package we use on our laptop expired last night, so I went to renew it, but to my horror, they've almost doubled the price to £40 from just over £20 so I refused to pay it! Two minutes of searching on the internet found the new version on a disc from Amazon for under £15, so I've ordered it from there instead. What a difference in price!

I watched One Born Every Min too
It totally freaked my DH out but the screamer didn't worry me, just hope I won't be like that! Chatted to my midwife about it and she said she's been delivering babies for 22 years and can count on one hand the number that were that loud.

I'm starting to get nervous about it now... not so much the pain, but just the 'what can go wrong' thoughts and being a bit terrified of the unknown really. There is also a huge family history of blood clots and P.E.'s in my family, so I have to inject myself with a blood thinner for 6 weeks afterwards to be on the safe side, which is a good thing I guess, but I just want it all over with really!
It's really daft and completely irrational, I know, and I haven't told anyone, but I'm terrified that something will happen to me and hubby will be left with all the debt and responsibility. I deal with all the household and financial stuff and he wouldn't know where to start - I've told him where things are kept and how it's all done, but I don't think he takes it in much. I know I shouldn't be thinking like this but I can't help it.:(

Back to the finances, and Hubby's paid the £20 into the bank so I've transferred it to the savings pot.
I've also received a £10 e-voucher from Sainsbury's this morning. I ordered something for hubby's birthday which is later in the year but it turns out the price was an error and it should've been a lot more so they've cancelled the order and sent me this voucher. Still, at least I have £10 for free! Will buy him something to put away for his birthday or father's day.
I've decided to try and buy him an Amazon Kindle for his birthday as he loves to read, but we're always running out of space to store books. They start at £111 on Amazon at the moment for the basic model, so if I out £20 a month away for it from now on, I'll have enough money in time for his birthday. I'll save any vouchers I get from surveys too for it - I'm halfway towards a £10 Amazon voucher at the moment on one account - they kindly let me complete 30 minutes of a 40 minutes survey this morning before booting me out though, Grrrrr. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to afford the all-singing, all-dancing 3G one which is £150, but that's fine. I've added a line to the signature so I can keep track of how much I've put aside for it, as I'll have to save it in the tax & insurance e-saver. It'll get spent if it goes anywhere else or is withdrawn as cash!
EDIT: Just managed to open another e-saver account off of my main bank account, so will use that solely for saving towards hubby's birthday present. After that, it'll be the Christmas savings account! There's £1.65 in there at the moment - the odd amount from the other bank accounts transferred over to it. :0)0 -
We've has a lovely weekend with my parents, I'm always so sad to see them leave.
I've still not had a good night's sleep, this damn cough is keeping me up at night and now I've managed to pull some muscles in my ribs from coughing.Hopefully tonight will bring some better sleep. I think I've passed this bug onto my Mum too now as she is feeling rough, I feel so bad as these things affect her very quickly, I just hope it doesn't make her too unwell.
Onto the finances, and Quidco have paid £16.87 which, when it hits the bank, will go towards hubby's birthday present fund. When the larger amounts of cashback come in through Quidco and the new mobi auto cashback, that'll go into the ML savings.
For now, I've transferred £40 from the savings to the main account until payday as a buffer to prevent any overdraft charges - just in case. We shouldn't be overdrawn if my calculations are correct but I just want it in there to be on the safe side. It'll be transferred back once the wages are in.
Yesterday I bought one more birthday present in the sales, which I wrapped this morning and put away with the others. That's one more person ticked off my list.I also picked up cards for 90% of the birthdays this year - nice ones for 29p each in a local discount store. It'll save us spending £1.50+ on a card when birthdays arise.
I also picked up some household bits - loo rolls, tissues, cold & flu stuff and such from the same shop at bargain prices.
My parents kindly bought some groceries with them and insisted on paying for some bits for us whilst out shopping. They also bought us some more baby bits from themselves and the family which is so kind. :A
I've also run through the online banking setup and the budgets for the next X number of months with hubby tonight. I generally deal with all this usually but I wanted to make sure he knows what to do and how to access/transfer money if I'm unable to do so. I feel better now that's done.
I still need to package the old mobiles up to send off for cashback, I'll try and remember to do it early this week as it's an extra £13 which can go in one of the savings pots.
We have now acquired a 'budget book'. A little file which has space for all the incomings, outgoings, savings etc to be noted down daily month by month. This shall be used from pay day onwards so we can both keep an eye on our money. I've explained it all to hubby so he will be filling it in too. Hopefully it'll help us keep our heads above water.
The car MOT is on Wednesday, fingers crossed it doesn't need any work doing on it. I know we need a new tyre, so I'm going to get one put on at the local garage on Tuesday which I know is reliable and will be at a much better price than the dealership we're getting the MOT done at. Unfortunately, the tyres on our car are around £80 a piece though as they are large tyres and we never buy the cheapest budget tyres - it's a false economy with the mileage we clock up. I'm just hoping there'll be enough out of the £500 we have in the tax/insurance/car pot for the MOT, a new tyre AND the car insurance which is due in 3 weeks time.
On the bright side, it's my last day at work tomorrow.

I'm glad you had a nice weekend. Your family sounds so lovely
.
Have a relaxing last day at work. Does that mean you get to put your out of office message saying you will get back to people in X months?!
I have had a cheap weekend and only spent money on a much needed haircut and a couple of things at the DIY store; a new shower fitting which I put in yesterday (the old one was corroded and beyond cleaning) and a can of paint to do the bathroom when I'm feeling more energetic. I was out for a while last night, but my contribution was some wine which I already had in.
I'm back at the doctors tomorrow to see the results of whether plan A worked. Let's just say I feel no better, so I am hoping we will be on plan B by tomorrow night :rotfl:. At least it means a short day at work!Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Hi Chocs - as for the out of office - I didn't even say when I was coming back! Just 'I'm not here for a long while - speak to the manager' type message! :rotfl:
Well done on the new shower fitting job - that's one task crossed off your list now.
Sounds like you had a lovely, yet inexpensive, Saturday evening too which is always nice.
I hope you got on ok at the doctor's today. Sorry to hear plan A hasn't gone, well, to plan. It must be very frustrating for you when you just want to get on with your life. I have everything crossed for you that plan B is more successful.0 -
So, I've officially finished work now - 4 days annual leave and then maternity leave kicks in. I have mixed emotions about it at the moment - I don't love my job but it's all becoming very real, very quickly and a little bit scary too.
I've ordered a tyre to be put on the car tomorrow as they don't stock them at our local garage. It'll be £70 ish, so I've transferred £70 across from the relevant e-saver to cover it. Thankfully we ony need one!
We also picked up a few bits from Asda tonight, using some of the gift cards we received for Christmas, so free shopping for us tonight and another £20+ left on those cards. We didn't need a lot, just bits that we couldn't wait until next Tuesday for, when the Sainsbury's grocery delivery is arriving.
Dinner is cooking nicely in the oven; hubby's lunch is sorted for tomorrow and I'll get some meat out in the morning to defrost for tomorrow's dinner. Hopefully I'll get a better night's sleep tonight too - last night was another round of coughing most of the night.
