What Sarina is saying is right. I used all talktalk stuff modem, spliters the lot and I have the same trouble as she has. Like she said the staff are unhelpful. It cost me over £9 in phone calls and then the did not solve the problem.

Tried. Useless as all the other information they give. Always giving for granted too many variables...

But Sarina isn't using a TalkTalk modem but an integrated modem in her laptop.Fireman wrote:What Sarina is saying is right. I am old, dodery and have little or no technical knowledge, but something rings a bell here. It may help, it may not, I may be passed my sell by date but here goes.
When I installed the TT disc/software and TT confirmed there was no reason for me not to be able to get a connection, I too was angry/frustrated etc. It so happened that because the a conexant modem within my computer had NOT been turned off (unclicked), "IT" and the TT modem were trying to compete, consequently no connection. Someone, I think it was TT, talked me through the unclicking of the conexant modem and from then on, it has been ok.
Having said that, I have windows'98 and an old machine and sometimes the pages load very slowly and I have to reboot in order that it resumes speed and sometimes, if I can't connect, I have to switch off all power and then start up again. I know it's hellishly frustrating and you find yourself tearing out your hair. I do hope my imput helps. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks for that reply Islandman but the OP is not using the TalkTalk adsl moden or any external modem but trying to connect to TalkTalk using an internal modem.
If TalkTalk can't help with that, which I can understand as they can't be expected to know the ins and outs of every laptop you might be best to get in touch with the manufacturer of the laptop for help as to why their internal modem isn't connecting.
I've been using a wirelss router for so long I really can't remember what to do when connecting with a modem.0 -

So far you have not given any useful information, other than state that it doesn't work!
Exactly what modem are you using?
What have you entered for the following settings?
VPI =
VCI =
DNS settings (primary) =
DNS settings (secondary) =
Authentication =
Encapsulation mode =
I am assuming that you have correctly entered your user-name and password correctly.
Have you uninstalled the modem driver supplied on the Talk Talk CD as you are using your own modem? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
