Another TT broadband connection problem

HELP HELP
I've been trying to connect to TT broadband all last night.

My broadband line is active (apparenlty since last week) and i've received the installation cd yesterday but when i run the cd and it checks the connection, it says failed. any idea what can it be???

I haven't taken one of their modem as i have the modem integrated in my laptop. Can it depend on that?

Any idea anyone???
Thanks

If you haven't taken one of their modems, why are you using their CD? Surely all you need to do is enter your user-name and password into the modem or router that you intend to use. The modem in your laptop will not be suitable as this will be for dial-up and not ADSL.

    Using what modem?

  • Using the one in my computer.
I had used the same computer to connect with my old broadband provider (Virgin) with no problems at all...I refuse to believe that it's a computer/modem problem!
  • Sorry but I don't understand this either. A modem for broadband is something that you plug into the pc/laptop and the other end into your landline socket.
  • I just connect my pc with the landline with a normal telephone wire...
    IT HAS WORKED BEFORE...
  • Best ring TalkTalk then and find out what the problem is :)
  • I've posted this thread because at Talktalk they have been of no help at all...
I've read posts of people that had the same problem and eventually, apparently, managed to solve it (unfortunately i cannot find this post anymore among all the threads about talk talk...), so i hope someone else could help me...

Are you absolutely sure that you have an ADSL modem in your laptop?

Was your last ISP (Virgin) supplying you with broadband or dial-up?
