    You can't make yourself unemployed and then claim benefits. The only reason for leaving a job is if you are too ill/become disabled, or are made redundant. It's to stop people just packing in their job and living on benefits. Normally if you leave a job by choice you can't claim for 3 months.

    It's a rule that's needed, but it sometimes hurts genuine people who just want the best chance of a job.

    I'm sorry but you really don't need to leave a job in Bournemouth to look for a job in Southampton - they're only 40 minutes apart by train!

    You only had the travelling to do because you moved to Southampton without a job! Why not do what most sensible people do and move to the new place when you get a job there?

    why spend what little money you have on an ill advised move to a new town when you have no real plan or idea of the real world at all?

    Rather than rant at the OP, whose mistake is made and cannot be simply unmade;

    Op, what is your housing situation?

    You need to contact people like fairshares and or the food banks who can help out with food.

    or go dumpster diving.
    If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Maybe I was a little harsh...............

    I am just surprised the OP thought it would be any different.

    Could you not go back to Tesco cap in hand and beg and plead for a job? With Christmas on the way they may well have some seasonal work although temporary it would be better than nothing?

    Just a thought all the best with it anyhow ;)

    I know you're right but sometimes people's stupidity just gets to me.
  • Go to the Jobcentre and ask for a Hardship Form (JSA10 I think). You may be entitled to a percentage of jobseekers allowance until full entitlement is restored.
