I used the Beta for about 6 months, and found no real problems, but the functionality is limited compared to the add-ons available for Firefox. It may look similar, but it's just not as good IMHO.

I currently use Firefox, and do keep a copy of IE7, but rarely use it. Only when the odd website requires it's use.

ie7 has tabbed browsing, is supposed to be more secure etc. Visit their website for more info. As for use, I think it's slower than FF but the missus likes it.
Stand by for lots of pros and cons, it always produces an interesting debate.
    FF for me BTW

I think it's actually faster. Definitely so when cold/warm loading, and also at rendering. I think it's only regarding JavaScript where Firefox is faster.

Opera ideally if you want something nice and fast. I was very happy with Opera, but (and it is extensible) found it harder to extend than Firefox. Hence I'm currently using Firefox. If Opera released an "extension" equivalent, then I'd switch back in a flash.

I don't think IE7 is final as yet so it would be the beta or RC version.

IE7 is supposed to be coming to everyone running XP sometime this month via automatic Windows Update. There was even a reports going around on Monday that it was going to be yesterday :)

  • Microsoft have provided a script which prevents any automatic update of IE7. This is available at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4516A6F7-5D44-482B-9DBD-869B4A90159C&displaylang=en

Directions for use of the script are included in the ZIP file downloadable from the MS website.

Hint - you need to run: IE70Blocker.cmd /B at the Command Line after installation.
