why did u go for a 12 month contract if you were renewing? should have gone for monthly basis. daft
They gave me BB for £9 a month for unlimited access so I don't think this is daft.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

aol customers will be given the option to join the free broadband offer or remain with their current package

the aol name will not be rebranded and will be run seperately to the talktalk brand

I pay £15.99 a month for AOL dial up - should I move to broadband with AOL or look elsewhere?

AOL only charge me £10 per month for Silver BB. It works fine for me and I like the fact that my DD can surf safely with no !!!!!! pop ups.

I've been with AOL for couple of years. How did you manage to get it for £10 per month poppy9?

Ring them up and ask them for your Mac code (something you need to change suppliers). They will then ask you why you are leaving and you tell them that Orange are offering you free BB. They then offer you £9.99 a month for life and you say "mmmmmh sounds good but I want to be wireless too". They may then through in a free wireless modem.

Make sure you are not talking to someone in a call centre as they can only read from scripts and are useless.

    Good luck.

i have been with aol for a long time now but was a bit let down when i went to broadband gold last year as i had great problems in connecting the 3 computers to wireless so we could be online at the same time. I have just cancelled my subscription @ 24.99. they offered me it for 19.99, which i feel is not much discount considering how long i have been with them. the only problem is if i go to another provider is changing all computers to be compatible with new broadband provider and the expense i will have to pay someone to do it for me, as i am absolutely hopeless! can anyone give me any idea of the easiest provider and the cheapest offer. i was offered broadband silver at 9.99 but it means we cant go online at the same time.
    any help would be appreciated

Tracy did the computers you were trying to use wirelessly have to have a card inserted? Or was the WIFI connection already on the computer (maybe because it is new?). It makes a huge difference if the card is the same make as the router they may say they are compatible but are often not. You should for example buy a Thompson Speedtouch card if you have a Thompson Speedtouch router. You will need a card for each computer and they cost about £25 each. If you have an integral card you just need to click the icon that says something like “there are wireless networks in range of this computer” and click on your own network.

I totally disagree with this and have never had any problems with all sorts of different manufacturers cards working well together. Wifi devices are made to comply with the 802.11b/g standard and most devices contain chips from only a couple of different manufacturers.

The only time that it can make a difference is with speed when a non-standard manufacturers "speed boost" technology is used i.e. to get the extra speed, then all devices need to be from the same manufacturer.
