  • we don't bring home banker's salaries and get big bonuses at the end of the year
not all bank staff do, we're not all "bankers". most of us are just busting a gut trying to make a living, same as the rest of you. we still pay charges same as you. my actual salary over the year is no more than someone who does the same hours as me at tesco, so a little more than minimum wage. and there is definately no yearly bonus.

bank charges suck, that's very true, but maybe find a bank with lower charges? i realise that would be time consuming, but the bank i work at, you'd have to be over your overdraft limit for more than 10 working days to be charged that much, it does seem extortionate...

go in and ask whether they'll refund it, sometimes they will if its the first time. good luck.

Hi Tinkerbell - which bank do you work for? You sound just like one of us on the other side of the counter. So, your bank treats you like poo as well then!

    Morning and welcome tinkerbell.
I know exactly how you feel 'cause I used to work for a bank (for my sins!) and I know how banks treat their staff (us little minions). I also know you don't have a say in any decision making nor do you get a big bonus. My grievance is with the fat cats who make zillions every year and pay themselves big fat bonuses with our money.
Morning Mrs S - how are you today?

  • I've got a charge from Lloyds for £150 to pay by 1st Nov for going £60 over my overdraft facility. I know its my fault for not being careful but thats almost a weeks wages for me!!! Absolutely ridiculous!!!
  • Morning Emily. God not Lloyds again. As you will see on this forum the word LLOYDS is a swear word so forgive any bias against them. Have you done it before because if not they will refund that to your account (how gracious and kind they are). If you have (and I am in that camp) then its a bitter pill to swallow. Dont forget THEY DONT CARE. But we on here do care. So go easy and try if at all possible to avoid it - going over the limit I mean - IF POSSIBLE I repeat!!. Dont forget there are haves and havenots and we are in the havenots category.

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Morning Mrs S - how are you today?

Morning Mrs s - how are you today? I have to travel fifty miles to use my nectar points from a Sainsburies to get groceries. The snag is that I have to the once (as we dont have one where I live) and then go back after 24 hours so thats a round trip of two hundred miles to just get groceries. I dont have any money whatsoever until 10th Of November (and that is all swallowed up with bills) thats why I have to use these points - so how the hell I am going to pay for the petrol God only knows.

Unfortunately I am human and I have to eat which is a bit of a bummer AND on a regular basis as well. A bit steep I call it.

I havent incidentally heard from Lloyds again (since I wrote and told them that had boobed big time TWICE over in a matter of a week but divulging someones elses account details on my letters from them). Nor have I heard from ICO or Mof Justice. Too small a fry then I guess...

Hope things are good for you - LOLLLLL

I think it's disgusting that they didn't send you a list of their charges together with their terms and conditions. Hopefully they stuck to them but if they have charged you more than is laid out in their T&Cs then you certainly have a case against them.

On the other hand, if the charges are in line with the Fees in their T&Cs you don't have a leg to stand on - all you can do is appeal politely on the grounds of your previous good management of the account.
