Try a company called Sealskinz - I have their waterproof socks and they were brilliant (I say were as I managed to lose 1 DOH!)

Sealskinz are the thing to have - not cheap, but they do keep the rain out!

As regards the general discussion of dog walkers, I met mine while walking my dogs, saw him many many times, he limits the number of dogs he takes, keeps one on the lead if necessary, always has control. He test walks all dogs with their owners, and will reject any that he feels will not be happy with him (that doesn't mean he doesn't take on "difficult" dogs, just those that don't gel with him or his other regular dogs). Mine are always happy to see him, run to his car, and come home tired out. He is a lovely chap, and I have always been happy to recommend him if anyone asks me if I know a good walker/sitter. I only use him occassionally as I am at home most of the time, but sometimes full day hospital visits with my disabled mother mean that I need to use him. He is insured, but then again so are my dogs..
