I am happy that Zara walks with up to 10 dogs sometimes (2 dog walkers doing the walks of their packs together) as this is brlliant for socialisation and from the photos I see how much fun they are all having....
I wouldn't want any of my dogs walked with any other either tbh, you can never know at what level other dogs are at and any dog walker saying they can control a multitude of dogs in their care is asking for trouble and a liar.
You can never know 100% how a dog is going to react to certain situations and pack mentality can rule and to walk 5 dogs per person!! thats shocking to me what if one broke free by accident? whats she going to do with the other 4 while she has to run after that one? you have to predict every eventuality and that is very careless to walk 5 dogs a time tbh and certainly not giving the dog they are walking the one to one care and attention they are getting paid for. Socialisation is a big key but you can do that meeting other dog walkers rather than taking on 5 dogs a time! i'm sorry but that reeks money orientated to me.0 -

I beg to differ here - on every point.....
And I think you are taking it wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to far:
My dog walker walks all dogs OFF lead (just so we are clear),in a very safe, big open space or woods, the new dogs are introduced to the "pack" properly, the group have been walking together for a while now (over a year), the dogs know the area and other dogs walked around here, the dog walker is a profesional and not a random stranger from small adds after a quick few pounds....and any dog walker saying they can control a multitude of dogs in their care is asking for trouble and a liar.
Do not quite undersatnd this:very careless to walk 5 dogs a time tbh and certainly not giving the dog they are walking the one to one care and attention they are getting paid for
What I am paying for is NOT a person spending time with my dog on one to one basis (are you confusing dog walking with training/behavioural help etc perhaps?) but for my dog to have GREAT time - WITH OTHER DOGS under a watchful eye of a human carer.
My dog is a dog, she likes spending time with dogs, having fun with dogs - not merely walking with a person.....
So, excuse me but I know exactly what I am paying for - and both me and my dog do get what we wants/need from the arrangement.....0 -

I've read all you have said and its obviously your money and your dog and thats your perrogative, you can still walk a dog and have fun there doesn't need to be a pack of dogs to get that same interaction.
I don't personally think its safe for one instance she is only insured (if she is) for 4 dogs per any one time, to walk more dogs you have to upgrade to a more expensive policy (please check NARPS) why anyone would upgrade at considerable cost is beyond me unless it was for financial gain (and no insurance covers for more than 6 dogs period)because i can see no benefit to the dogs welfare to walk 5 dogs at any one time, this is no means a way of replacing training its health and safety what if one dog was to escape into an oncoming car? or attack another dog? what will happen to the other dogs? how is she going to get your dog to the vets ASAP with 4 other dogs in tow? you dog will NOT get preferential treatment end of... do people not consider this when employing people to walk their dogs? blimey if my dog is going to bloat it needs to get to the vets in 30mins MAX i dont care what she does to her other dogs but i will sue her !!!! off if my dog isn't at the vets in the allotted time...
On average a dog walker charges 8 pounds an hr per dog so your dog walker is on 40 pounds per hour walking 5 dogs and you think she puts your dog first??? lmao are people still that naive, if shes on that much i'd expect my dog to be trained to Gold Citizen standard. beg for its dinner and be walked on a 9ct gold lead...
I hope you signed a disclosure for allowing your dog off lead as that is the requirement with insurance or its invalid and she is not covered...0 -
gettingready wrote: »Sorry guys but some posts above show that your dog walkers are just random strangers.....
My dogwalker is a dog walker by profession, this is her job to look after my dog and to make sure Zara has a great time while out with her.
How do I know? because I have asked for references from other clients, been on few walks myself and see the walks on the dog walkerr's website:
http://www.dogsandthecity.co.uk/gallery/
Not anyone calling themselves a dog walker is actually one - some people think it is an easy part time extra income and ....
You want a good care for your dog - look for a recommended dog walker.
My one is insured, had Pet First Aid certificate, is Police checked (got my keys) and Zara absoluely loves her. Se works with another girl, they also do dog boarding... They basically live for the dogs in their care.
Yes, it does cost a bit but - you want quality... you have to pay for it. And my dog is very important to me.
Police checked? do you know what that means? nobody can be police checked they have to be CRB checked you don't walk into your local bobby shop and say hey check me!! for a basic CRB check they don't show anything unless its a major crime like a section 18, 20 ,murder or manslaughter or if its relevant to the position they apply for (for vulnerable adults or children say)... an enhanced disclosure gives everything away, theft, cautions, etc i could go and get a basic crb check now but i may have a caution for shoplifting etc it means nothing....0 -
Sorry but where did I say my dog walker walks 5 dogs at any time?
I said 2 dog walkers may meet and have 10 dogs between them, you divided 10 by two and got 5 each? LOL
I said she may meet with another dog walker and her dogs and combine a walk......
On other points - yes, I am aware of all that and yes I have checked all that and yes I trust my dog walker 100% with my dog.....and so does everyone else who lives their dogs in her care....
And yes I meant CRB checked, my mistake, sorry.0 -

NO wonder you do not have a dog walker, with this attitude....
Sorry, not going to say how much do I pay my dog walker but lets just go by your thinking..... Let that dog walker (any dog walker) have those £40 per walk. How many walks does one do per day? Probably 2 - as people use dog walkers mostly for lunch times while they are at work themselves.... So lets say £80 per day. For how many hours? No, it is not 2 walks = 2 hours work. 2 walks is more like 3-4 hours with drop off, pick ups, cleaing the dogs when they arrive home, filing in their water/food bowls. Cost of petrol, poo bags, treats etc... What is left?
9ct golden lead?

You stated your dog walker is a dog walker by profession what exactly does that mean? all my dogs are bronze good citizen i have basic dog cannine first aid (it came from a purina seminar!!) i also have hands on assesment for dog show judges and dog behaviour (they are all free from dog breed clubs) and i have made up 4 dogs as champions i'm wondering if i should be a dog walker its obvious you need sod all if you have gullible people to hand...0 -

I don't have a dog walker because i walk them myself and i am indeed a dog walker by profession which is why your posts absolutely baffle me.... poo bags? lol a quid per 500, filling water bowls a milli second? no dog walker should be feeding ANY dog in its care they choke they bloat insurance does not cover them for anything like that and they will be liable i do indeed charge 8 pounds per hour i dont drive or walk them to an area my rates start the moment i step out that front door to charge them an hour while i spend 15mins driving to the park is dishonest.0 -

Jesus - are you sure you are generally all right? Where did I say the one hour includes pick up/drop off? The WALK is one hour.
Are you paranoid or something? See bad/wrong in everything/everyone?
I have no idea what your problem is but I chose to not continue this useless conversation with you - you come across as very opinionated in matters that do not affect you and frankly quite agressive and that affects my own karma....and I like to stay calm....
I am not asking you/suggesting YOU use my dog walker - and you JUMP agressively at every single one of my posts....
So... find someone else to jump at as I am not going to engage into any more conversations with you.
Have a good night, I have heard that camomile has a bit of calming effect.. enjoy0 -
I did not "question" in this sense, my question was to Cyberbob as we keep on bumping into one another on those forums so I was curious and NOT criticising/questioning HIS choice, and not yours.for you to question why someone would only prefer her dog to be walked one on one is her perrogative which is why i commented
You jumped in with masses of accusations, allegations, make up horror stories, guesses and assumptions. Never seen anyone so patronising and frankly quite agressive on those boards - FYI reported you to moderators.
************************************
Oh dear.. I do not feel camomile will help in YOUR case.... you need more help than that I see....much more.....i'm wondering if i should be a dog walker
and few posts laterIam indeed a dog walker by profession
and also...i work for an agency in a factory
Pls stop making a fool of yourself...20 posts on the forum and....nite nite0
