Hm, I wonder if that's why China has stopped sending rare earths to us;)

    Har har

They probably understand that selling them is pretty dumb.
As is funding say Eastern Europe to build better infastructure so they can compete with our businesses easier.

China is just running around buying up entire mountains in South America for the mineral resourses. We on the other hand would have provided a loan to a local company for them to mine it for us at greater expense, possibly providing a source of embezzlement at the same time for some local fat cat.
Are we not supposed to be the Capitalists?

That said, a lot of so called rare earths are quite plentiful. It's just that China with it's lax employment and polution laws made it cheaper to wind down the mining in say the USA and import it.
China doing this means for many production will ramp back up elsewhere.

We should stop fall foreign funding altogether IMHO.
If things are so bad here, why on earth are we helping other countries out?

A nice way to end the speech, with a little dig at Labour - hard to resist I suppose.

Overall, no surprises, a little bit more meat on the bones but the devil is in the detail. I'm working my way through the full published documents right now.

But I thought it was a well-balanced and 'fair' speech, on saying that, I'm very interested in whyat this bank levy will be tomorrow - that'll determine, for me, whether this was truly a fair speech.
Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.
