What I would suggest is getting to the bank and getting out the money for rent and bills (so thay don't get swallowed up by the payday loan) and then pay the bills off if you can. The debt can be dealt with seperately.
Oh and definitely one step at a time - one day at a time.
Good luck

Hiya df,
Thanks.
I've prioritised, and am paying my rent shortfall first tomorrow, along with TV License and then food :-)
Thanks again,

Hi Sim, you need to stop beating yourself up over the spending while you had the 'blip' cos you're going to trigger yourself in to a binge again by being so down on yourself. You didn't kill anyone - you spent some money. It was a pity it happened but it did happen and now you can learn from it and move on.
Don't think you've f*cked it up because you drank on those days, think of how many days you HAVEN'T drunk on.
Hiya Spongbong,
Thanks.
You've helped me put this into perspective.
I'm now a week sober, so that's got to a good thing!
Am really trying to hoist myself up and look at this positively, and move on.
Difficult, but as you say, it did happen, and I have to learn from it and move on.
Am seeing my CBT guy next week, so hopefully that'll help.
Cheers,

How you doing?
Hi E2,
Hope you've had a good day.
Been very low today, but after a rest and trying to change my attitude, am feeling a bit better now thanks.
Have been dipping into my AA Big Book, and have decided to go back and get some help.
99% of my debts are due to my drinking, so that tells you something!
Feel very daunted, but determined.
Keep wishing I'd never wasted the money two weeks back
But, I need to try and look forward now :T
Thanks,

Hope your day with your case worker went well today and getting out in the fresh air (bit cold though!) did you some good.
I'm sure it did - always helps to get out and clear the cobwebs away.
Don't forget to withdraw your income tomorrow to prevent Moneyshop from getting their hands on it.
If you're worried about putting it into the COOP account (because of giving the card details to Moneyshop) is there anyone you can trust implicitly who you can give the money to who will look after it and only give it to you for things like food and bills etc?
I'll be honest I'm a bit outside my comfort zone on this one but I'm also thinking that with a sum of money in your pocket it may be asking too much of you while you are dealing with your alcohol addiction.
As already advised (and as you know from my dealing with payday loan companies thread) you know what to do with the CO-OP bank card.
One day at a time, keep being positive.
Best
SnV
Thanks SnV,
I postponed my appt with my support worker.
Not good, but I hadn't slept at all last night.
I am going to pay my rent and priority bills first thing in the morning.
Might be able to pay Moneyshop the £80 just to give me one more month's grace.
It wil just get shot of the possibility of a whole host of other problems cropping up by just paying it.
I then have an interview next Wednesday for a job I'm confident of getting so I can then pay the Moneyshop debt of sooner rather than later.
Am phoning up about another job tomorrow too - a driving job which will get me out and about. Just what I need!
I may well give my Co-op card and my A&L card to my Girlfriend tomorrow.
Avoiding temptation and all that.
Thanks again SnV,

Hey Sim!
99% of my debts are due to my drinking, so that tells you something!
See that big bad figure in my signature? I reckon 70% of that is alcohol related so your not on your own, far from it.
You seem a bit brighter at the end of quite a tough day for you. So today you need to pay whatever bills need paying and decide that your not going to drink. Don't just sit in your home though, go for a walk, go to the library, prepare for your interview, just make sure you do something to take your mind off "stuff".
I would suggest though that you contact your support worker though, they are good people and will help you. We can only give you so much support on a message board, you need human interaction with this. A chat with someone who knows what your going through and get yourself to a meeting tonight if you can. You know it makes sense.
One day at a time.

Good Morning E2,
Thank You so much.
Good on ya for tackling your debts. 10% paid off is great going :T
Am still feeling quite wobbly, and I've been up most of the night so haven't slept. Feeling quite a bit more positive today, after a very tough week.
8th day sober here.
Onwards and upwards.
I forced myself out about an hour ago to the corner shop, and got some milk and treats for breakfast
It was only just getting light, and a walk out into a gorgeous morning was quite uplifting.
It sounds corny, but I'd forgotten these simple pleasures when I was boozing.
The thing I'm struggling is my nerves, now I'm sober.
This has always been the tough part.
I feel quite raw and 'exposed' when I'm not drinking, as if I'm about to get 'caught out'!
Did you get this?
Hope your morning is going well.
Sim
PS - My emphasis in your post - You're spot on. I've been shutting myself away for so long, and even though I feel full of fear now I'm not drinking, I'm going to hoist myself up and out0 -
PS - I'd paid my Rent and Water bills by 2am, so that's a good start!0

Been reading your progress, your still posting on here , so thats a good sign:D
Good for you that you've managed a week, I don't have any experience of your problem, but i'm sure its not easy for you, or anyone else who suffers.
Now that you have the priority bills paid, that will take some of the pressure off.
The rest will follow in bitesize chunks, just keep at it.
With regard to the Moneyshop, I have used them in the past, and got into similar trouble.
I can't stress enough that they will clean your bank accounts out without your permission if you don't pay the roll over fee. And for this reason it is better if you get new debit cards at least that way you will maintain some control over the situation.0 -
Sim - Just wanted to say Good Luck -
My Dad is a recovering Alcoholic and has been dry for about 25 years now, since I was 9. As the AA book says - One Day at a Time... my Dad still lives by that every day.0
