Can someone guide who to look into the statutory credit report correctly and what to look at.. i looked into all of my agreements both Settled and live one they all contains green blocks...

I wasnt refering to the largest transaction. Many people pay for holidays / flights on their cards. So thats not important.

I was suggesting maybe you use your card at places like betting, gambling or such places.

Don't worry, all your credit report will say regarding the cancelled card is 'balanced settled'. It will not be evident that the lender cancelled your card. As you've obtained a card elsewhere straight away, you'll still be collecting repayment information every month so I can't imagine your creditworthiness will be affected by this at all.

credit card companies are basically money making machines. if you have been paying off your account in full every month, you are not making them any money - you are costing them money.

requesting 2 rises of your limit in such a short time does raise questions. especially if you dont use the full limit or go anywhere near it. this screams of waiting until you want to use the full balance then disappear. or if you do, they will be worried that they build up the balance more and more then you disappear without paying the loan or the card.

they dont take it personally, so why are you?? the many responses on this thread from you just screams of complaining too much.

just move to another card and move on.

This sort of thing happens everyday even to those with a very good credit record, so try not to take it personally.

Happened to me with another card. Completely out of the blue it got cancelled. No problems with my record, no other cards cancelled, could still get credit elsewhere. It was clear to me they were worried about credit risk (information has come to us etc). To me it just goes to show that some of the systems out there are still up the spout. Selected the wrong column in Excel because a bloke was drunk? A ">" instead of a "<" in a formula? Who knows. Indeed I remember a thread recently (was it Halifax?) where someone challenged it and it turned out they'd just made a mistake and closed a batch of accounts by mistake and were happily re-opening them.

This particular clause reeks of unfairness. An accumulated balance of reward points could have significant value. They're entitled to close your account, but if it's not for misconduct then you shouldn't be penalized.

I'm certain that wouldn't get past the ombudsman. I'm amazed that such a letter got past their compliance department - it's asking for trouble - perhaps it compliance didn't see it. In any case what about all that ethics/corporate social responsibility nonsense they like to go on about.

Whilst the bank has come to it's own view that it's not worth continuing with a credit card relationship at the present time, it amazes me they are so thoughtless the way they handle these situations. They have other products that the cardholder might one day be interested in (or already have) and of course there is word of mouth. All that PR, advertising and marketing effort can be undone by a terse letter such as this.

just an update got a CC PIN # from TESCO last week expecting card today..

Thanks bluffer.. i like your approach.. but i am not going to give up unless they give me a real reasons, it's getting really interesting,

I have logged a call with obudsmen, sent them all details and written to Barclay KOD dpeartment at leisture.. let see..

Someone from Barclays have constantly been trying to get hold of me on my office number and today he eventually got through. we had a good conversation obviously i gave him a hard time... the only thing he confirmed your current account is not going to be closed. he was offering some insurances, top up in the loan (pre-approved offer), car loan etc etc.. I asked him offer me a card and he said i can only fill the application online if it got through than fine otherwise.. but i can see that you have logged couple of complaints with us.. long story short, Barclay and Barclaycard are two separate entities..

Thanks again for all your responses my friends.... my Experian report is also clean, noticed TESCO recently enquired about my credit history and approved straight away..

an interesting thing i'd like to share i applied for NATWEST card and they refused with the same reason that Barclay gave me.. "You are not meeting the current lending criteria." can someone please shed some light on it as why other companies are willing to offer a card where banks not?

CC companies search different files. Some search all three, others only one. Also companies report to different files. So whilst one might be clean and you can get any credit you like as long as thoses companies only read the clean report. There are other threads on here which tell you who chexks what reports.

What this means is that there is bad information on one of your reports. Either incorrect information, or somthing has happened that you are not aware off which is on this report.

For what it is worth. I got into serious trouble many years ago with credit companies. I had a few defaults and was in trouble.

Barclays were good to me. Okay I lost the card. But they allowed me to rebuild my history with them. THen after a period I was allowed the card back.

So whilst you may have problems, I am not saying you do. But its always important to talk to them.

Obviously now I am okay. Well apart from HBOS!! But barclays have given me credit increases, only little ones. But when things have been bad its always important to do little steps instead of big ones.

    Thanks for your post powerone...
so what you are trying to say i should get my credit reports from as many companies i can.. i spoke to Experian and Equafix on the to discuss is there any other information that you think i need to know what statutory report is not containing and they said that's pretty much it... i mean i have to trust these reports i have no choice.. however, one of the customer relationship manager replied to my complaint saying this i
was completely an organizations internal decision and it has nothing to do with your credit history or anything else.. we review your account carefully and according to organization new criteria you do not qualify for the card hence the service has been withdrawn...
