this happened to many thousands of Egg customers years ago, including me. they will probably send you a standard letter, but the reason will either be that they're trying to reduce their exposure to risk, or you've since fallen way below their initial criteria...or below their new criteria. I'd be amazed if they told you the real reason, they dont really have to.

same also happened with Monument customers, but that's because they were bought out

my own bank did this to me also, years ago, but that's because they're tw@ts

    C. I have recently asked to change my credit limit, may be twice in last 6 to 8 months. They did but obviously not as much as i requested. Can this be a reason?

That might have started them looking, you have quite a lot of credit and are seeking more.
If for whatever reason am not a good credit risk anymore than why the keep offering me to top up my loan which is only one click away on my online banking accounts prepaid offers...

Doesn't mean you would always get it.

Sounds most feasible. You have a 20k loan with them yet you still want more credit on a card you state you barely use?

Thanks Jon Boy. I dont think i have fallen below their criteria.. if i ever have they would not have increaseed my limit at first place when requested, nor on the 2nd time... to be honest it only went up from 2.5K to 4K. which is normal as my spendings has also been increased..
no one answering my question, have i become the part of a black listed people?

    Thanks mjm.

I wasn't looking for more. They were happy to renew my limit up to 4K whereas i requested 5K. If they or the system weren't happy they would have declined the request and retained me but they increased and kicked me out apparently for no fu'in reason...

The loan is a pre approved offer still hanging in my offer list and it's one click away.. believe me..

    Thanks Dlockers.

you think 4K is a lot of credit where the user is paying all payment in full well before due dates...

It depends on what your income is.
My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

I have applied for Tesco card online and they approved straight away

Search the threads, online approval (not just tesco) does not mean you will always get the card.

As Jammi has said you should obtain a copy of your credit reports from Experian and Equifax, there may be an error on one of them or someone may have been getting credit in your name

Thanks HAX, they know what my income is as i mentioned to them when i request to change the limit about 8 months ago.. 2nd time i also mentioned to them as i got pay rise.. they know it as it's reflecting in my bank statement.. hope this fact has not been overlooked while making the decision of closing my account...

    Thanks again MJM.

I spoke to them yesterday and they your application has been approved and you will be receiving your card in next 5 working days.. will mentioned here once received...

I have found there first levels of customer service to be appalling. The best of luck with them.
