because codeine is a short acting pain killer. you will get break thru pain.

I hardly ever take anything when I feel unwell. I've never really thought why - I think it's more due to not wanting to take drugs when I know my body can fight it off by itself, rather than anything financial.

Paracetamol is only 9p-15p in some places.

Drinking plenty and keeping warm is the best way for recovery of a cold, unless it gets worse, that is when you should seek advice from a GP.

Buying over the counter stuff is never the thing to do the day you get a cold!

Gordikin that made me chuckle! I really respect how good he is with money - I've learnt loads from him and he's helped me loads too. (With advice rather than money).

I am hoping for a ring soon - lets just hope its not out of a lucky bag!!

I had it drummed into me as a kid by my dad:

A cold will take 7 days to get over if you take all the associated medicines........................ and a week if you don't!

Waste of money IMO

oh heck , i am not trying to be an internet health expert, just replying info that my consultants & GP's have warned me to keep an eye out for. i did say that it wont affect everyone, but it has and will affect some people.

Baileys6904: As i said, if you are at all concerned, have a chat with your GP. I would never suggest you google it, as crikey how much rubbish will that bring up!. but its good practice regardless for everyone to get pain meds checked/reviewed everynow and then anyway to make sure everything is going ok.
