Hi all,
I'm sorry if I upset anyone with this reply; it's really not my intention, but I feel I must point out a couple of things.
If you are blogging with the main intention of making money you are going to fail. You have to be passionate about what you are doing and think about the money later.
I work in SEO and these sorts of blogs make it increasingly difficult for me to do my job properly as people are effectively spamming up the internet with blogs and information that has little or no relevance to the rest of the world.
But of course, if you really are passionate about your chosen subject, go for it and don't hold back. This enthusiasm will ooze out of your posts and people will naturally want to read.
To get the maximum exposure, get on Twitter and start posting to FB too. These are great ways of letting others know you are out there.
One final point worth noting: Blekko launched their search engine this week. Whether they succeed or fail is still yet to be seen, but their ethos of getting rid of !!!! content from the internet WILL filter out to the other big search engines. Search Blekko and watch the intro video - you'll see what I mean.0 -
My blog which I set up entirely for money making through adsense and affiliate has made nearly £20 in just over a week. My fishing blog which I updated regularly for 4 months made £3 in that entire time. I think it is possible to set up a blog with the main intention of making money. It's rare to see a blog these days without ad's and affiliate programs plastered over them0

Thats why I avoid most of them because its quite obvious its more about making money than actually providing contentMy blog which I set up entirely for money making through adsense and affiliate has made nearly £20 in just over a week. I also have experience in this area and this is/can be true. Also, content mills (ehow etc) haven't really taken off here yet in the same way they have across the pond. When they do, they'll crowd out blogs. Also, the search engines are on it and are beginning to downgrade blogs and content mill pages whose articles are designed around keywords.
I don't think this is a future-proof way to up your income. But the key for the future is inward links. You need other people to say you're good. And that is what takes the time.0 -

But...I've found that it's just as important to post only when you're really in a 'writing mood.' You can tell - your writing is so much stronger, than when you're slogging along, trying to force it. I think readers can tell the difference too.
I heard a really lovely quote about blooging the other day - "Never blog out of duty. It should be like bursting in to song."0
