right the fans dont work, if the fuse is ok it could be the control panel or most likely the heater fan reostat has failed it's a varable resistor that controls current flow to the fans ie no current, no fans, bit of a pain to fit budget for around £100-£150 to fix

Did he check the right fuse?

Swap the fuse with one the same colour from somewhere else, know which fuse you are swapping with and check *that* item (e.g. the radio) 3 times....
    1. before swapping fuses, (to check the radio fuse is working)
    2. after removing radio fuse (to confirm that it is the radio fuse you just pulled out, if the radio now does not work you know it was the radio fuse)
    3. And again after swapping it with the fan fuse (to confirm the fan fuse is ok or not as the case maybe).

Next thing to do would be to get your test meter out and check voltages all around, eg on the dash switch and the fan motor terminals.
Changing a fan motor is going to be a labour intensive job on most cars.

He said you can tell if a fuse is blown by looking at it!

I must say, I had my doubts.........

You can on most fuses, yes. I think that Wig was suggesting maybe the wrong fuse was checked, and thus appearing, maybe incorrectly, as if it wasn't that that was at fault.

Most liklely to be the motor itself, a common FIAT fault but its not not a difficult job, just a bit fiddely.

Its a common fault on a lot of modern cars really.
