I seem to be letting my diary slide a bit :o

No updates in payments isn't helping I don't think. This month is not turning out too well. I was a little enthusiastic in my payments at the beginning of the month I think, and now have run out of money :( I'm pleased that I haven't ended up in this situation from over-spending as I used to previously but kicking myself for not being more careful. Must keep reminding myself that now I have cut the hours in my extra jobs that I don't have as much money coming in throughout the month as I used to.

On the brightside - an email from Amazon this morning, I have sold a book after no sales for ages :) And the weekend was lovely with lots of long dog walks in the sunshine :)

  • I do that all the time - payday comes and I squirrel money away left right and centre and then by the end of the month I'm dipping into all my savings pots to pay for petrol! :o

    Hi Tete

Glad I'm not the only one! :)

I've got the book packaged and ready to go, and also pulled my finger out and finally packaged up the boots I am returning. One week and they had worn into holes  So a trip to the post office after work.

  • OMG I've just logged in again after been away from MSE for a year or so and just read your debt balance! That is amazing. sooooooo well done.

You have worked so hard at it and in the next couple of months you will be DF. That must feel amazing.

I got rid of mine, well a huge chunk of it ( down to about 5k) by remortgaging but that was the cheaters way out of it!!lol

I think you should write a book on how you've done it.

Anyway, very well done. Look forward to seeing it at 0 very soon

So, am slinking in with a bit of a confession here :o

Thanks so much for your lovely post Garfield and glad to hear you're doing well :)

So (feeling even guiltier now!) I am not going to be debt free till July now and will possibly even a little further into debt before I come out of it.

I have decided to go back to Africa in May for 2 months. I will be taking part in a 1500km walk from Namibia, through Botswana and ending in Zambia. This is to raise funds for my friends charity over there, making stops in schools and villages to make presentations etc.

I have thought about carefully and although it delays paying debt and possibly might make more, I am convinced that it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I have to take it. I am going to do everything I can in the coming months to raise as much money as possible to help prevent further debt as much as I can.

I will be paying my brother the final £380 I owe him on payday this Friday. My Mum has said she doesn't mind waiting for me to come back to start paying what I owe her. So as it stands I will be £690 in debt till July. How much more it becomes depends on how well I do on making as much money as possible in the next 2 months and have signed up to Dinah's frankly terrifying March Madness challenge

Debating whether to end my diary or not - I feel a bit of a fraud in diary-world now :o

Don't end your diary Beccie. I think you're right, you have to take this opportunity whilst it's there. You are very nearly debt free and your only debt left will be to your mum. She has said she doesn't mind waiting, so don't feel guilty. I'm sure that you will make enough money by May so that you won't put yourself back into too much debt, if any at all.

  • Becs - Well done on the decision making and good luck!!!! However don't be ending your diary - it's a journey and there's no rules.

I've just applied for a loan for a few different reasons - I am still going to have my diary even though I am taking more debt on - that's what it's for :D
    Debt - CCV £3792
CCB £1383 (took a hit for a holiday)

    Loan 1 £1787
    Loan 2 £1683
    Total £8601 Was £39302
  • Of course you should stick around :)

For selfish reasons too, I'm going on holiday this year (shh don't tell Martin haha) and if other people are doing non-mse things it makes me feel less guilty ;)
