Don't buy Freesat from Currys

Bought the Humux Foxsat HD Freesat set-up from Currys about 10 days ago and waited for Currys installer (Techguys) to come - which he duly did, on time.
What a moaning miserable old sod he was - groan, groan, groan all the way - I was glad to see the back of him.
OK - he did an excellent job and the set-up was quick, easy and the picture was brilliant.
However - that's the good part of the story.
Until then the item hadn't been out of it's box and only once it was installed did my wife see it. Now she's anti-tech anyway but when she saw it was black she hit the roof. "I've got everything in silver - I'm not having that" she said.
So in an effort to keep from beating her with the box (or with the receiver), I phoned Currys asking if I could exchange it (for something in silver - but unfortunately a lot more expensive).
NO WAY! It had been taken out of it's box and unpacked - end of story.
Now if that had have been Argos they would have taken it back and swapped it instantly with no questions.
Ok - it's my fault for not noticing the colour (small photo on box) but this is just a warning not to expect any leeway from Currys.
Once you've got it - it's yours! TOUGH!

For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism.
No one is listening until you make a mistake.

Hmmm, so they will supply exactly what I order, deliver and install it on time and do an excellent job? the swines.0

Almost every item of TV equipment is black these days, it is just the way it is.0

Kurtis - you've got a off-line slant on my query.
Perhaps I'm old-fashioned, (probably true) but where I come from we kind of expect personal service. My local PC shop will swap pretty well anything - Argos will do the same - so will Asda.
But Currys have a NO WAY approach which felt extremely cold and inconsiderate and I'm not used to it.
And I didn't like it.
So I'm having a moan - ok?For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism.

Its fine but publicly slating them after a job well done is a little harsh, remember if you brought it on-line or by phone from Currys you are covered by Distance sellers regs, unboxed or not they have to refund.0

all Humax boxes are black?0

Black is the new silver I'm afraid!
Good job too - I hated it when everything was silver!0 -
Aren't HD recorders excluded from the Argos 30 days returns policy?0

You cant complain about the colour you should have checked. They nearly all black now I have black tv and silver surround amp and silver Humax freeview box, silver tv stand got when I got tv. so what thats what was on offer at the time
As for miserable tradesmen yes we have had them too. You might have been cheaper though to get a local firm to do it0 -
This thread is not really about Freesat is it?
It is about buying a product, using it then taking it back for an exchange simply because it is the "wrong" colour.
As the OP said " it's my fault"0
