The Menopause Matters Thread

Not sure if this is the right place, but it`s certainly a vent!
Can someone please tell me why this thread was closed? No explanation has been given on the thread unless one was sent to Bronnie, who began the thread.
Have to say I`m beginning to really be disillusioned with this site (yes, I know, plenty folks will no doubt tell me to bu**er off :( )
as for one tiny thread, with no aggression, personal attacks or banal topic matter in it, some simple chat around the main subject of how the menopause affects our lives financially, was not allowed.
Or that`s the way it seems, if anyone can tell me different, please do.
In so many of the other threads on this board, there ARE, like it or not mods, plenty of instances of chatty support and in some occasions, outright nastiness and attacks. And yes, I know you said you can`t read every thread, but some of these threads have been going on for a loooong time. ;)
If it`s a purely "no medical advice" issue, surely it can`t be hard to allow whomever starts the thread to state some kind of disclaimer that no-one is qualified to give any and any comments are purely personal opinion? You could put it in bold even....
If it`s the chat, well, if you don`t allow a mixture of chat and practical advice, it`s bloody robots you want here, not real people.
I don`t expect this will last long either, but I would like others to see how disheartening it is for women going through a crucial, life AND economically changing, period in their lives, to be ignored..oh wait..wasn`t that one of the chattier issues in it? Tsk...

Read the link above, it states "Please remember this site is about the MoneySaving. It's not a place to discuss or treat specific medical issues."

It's one of the rules on here that is strictly enforced, probably because it's such a big site and if anyone were to take bad advice on medical issues the MSE site could be open to legal action?

I know it doesn't seem fair, but these are the site rules.

have a google and you'll find there are tons of forums on line dedicated to wpmen going through the menopause.

The thing is, nobody was dispensing medical advice so far as I`m aware. It`s almost impossible to discuss the menopause, which IS a medical issue, without talking about such things! Nobody said "Go get yourself some HRT, it`s fab" or the like. And as was pointed out in the thread, medical issues DO impact our financial circumstances! There are other threads dealing with disabilities, for example, that contain more than just core economy issues. And no, I`m not comparing the change of life with a disability, was just stating it as an example.
Is there no room in the boards admin for a little common sense leeway?

In which sub-forum was the thread located?

And how many pages had it gone to?
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

It was in the Health and Beauty section so far as I remember, and had gone to two pages over two days.

That'll be why it got shut down then. Posts more aligned to "general chat" should be posted in the Arms...

i was also disillusioned to see the thread removed, no medical advise was mentioned other than saying we had tried supplements, which supplements werent even mentioned

i have seen on other threads mention of try this or that to help which surely is as much medical advice as had been mentioned in the thread

the other chestnut is that its not moneysaving well how many of the diet support threads or what are u wearing today threads are moneysaving

its not that we are trying to get at the mods who do a great job voluntarily its just that we want the rules applied across the board or not at all

fairs fair after all and i would hate my faith in MSE as a whole to be altered by what appears to not be fair

meepster i would agree if there were not threads in the same area strictly stating they are diet or emotional support chat threads

Bit hard to post about menopause issues in an area also dedicated to Health moneysaving issues when we can`t even discuss it!

    If that made sense... :(

This thread is in the wrong place too.

It should be on The Site Feedback Board.
