I will be keeping a close eye on the German education requirements and if they remain comparable my kids will study here. It's quite important to me that my kid/s be well educated, but at the same time I think if they want to be educated for education's sake they can do OU/private study and find a career path at the same time - and I also don't want to force higher education on my children because it's important to me if it isn't to them. Higher education is a privilege I want my kids to have, but I've seen a friend of mine with a PhD struggling with his workload because he's been thrown straight into a position where all his colleagues have ten years' experience and I wouldn't wish my kids into a job where they're well enough educated but under-experienced. So I think depending on their chosen career path there'll be discussions over what qualifications are necessary and how best we can help them get what they need.

Still no word re my gift but hopefully she's gone to the PO today and it'll arrive in time. *fume*
