    Brilliant reply donnac2558!

Generally I just walk past, told one I was working myself doing deliveries of flyers and couldn't stop and that got rid of him (biggest shock of all, it was true), but got caught by the Red Cross on a different work day. It was a signup for a telephone fundraising drive so they didn't want bank details, but still lied about my DOB as it wasn't anything a stranger needed to know. Gave him the general junk email and unsubscribed from it last month.

I sympathise with anyone who's had more aggressive approaches, maybe I just walk too fast the rest of the time :)

When I see them, i swerve round them but do it in a very pointed obvious way. Sometimes I get 3-4 a row, just in a short stretch like the one between Russell Square tube and Russell Square itself (just near my workplace). One day i will stop and tell one that I will NEVER sign up to a chugger because I hate that method of collection. I try to mentally blacklist charities which use them but there are too many.

I got stopped, tried to wriggle out of the situation. We ended up chatting and when I mentioned I was pregnant he immediately said he couldn't ask me for money, and sorry for wasting my time and good luck etc.

I was taken aback but pleased that they do have souls ;) It was either red cross or save the children, dressed in red anyway
