I hate them mainly cos as a naive graduate i applied for a job that turned out to be working for an agency on behalf of charities. I spent 12 hours with some crazy women pounding the doors of rotherham. That time it was on behalf of a children's charity. The woman running it explained to me before we started diir knocking that there were certain techniques used, namly bullying and making them feel guilty. all they cared avout was their commission. On every door the amount they said had to be donated was actually above the minimum (that make more commission) and i witnessed her praying on elderly people (i swear one women didn't have a clue-i wanted to complain but they effectively had me hostage after confiscating my bad at the start), and then there was one women who when she had a small child with her was guilt tripped into signing up (the women i was with reeled off some stat about child abuse).

quite frankly it was despicable and many of these chuggers work for the same companies. they are scum.

Let's face it though, you'd have to be very naive to believe the rubbish that they come out with!

I was nearly laughing on the floor it was so funny :rotfl:

Seeing that they were on my doorstep before I'd even had chance to get in from my hard day at work I didn't have the chance to set up my bunker...

But that is incorrect for many things....

I keep telling the water company 'NO' when asked if I want to insure my water pipes...but they still keep calling and writing...even though I live in a flat and the building insurance already covers such things!!

Other examples are kitchen sales...energy suppliers...I could go on!
  • Give them fake details. Simples.

Can't stand them. The majority have followed me, and I've had a few swear at me too for ignoring them, so you're not alone xXMessedUpXx! I usually just say I'm in a hurry, and if they try to follow or get agressive I do likewise and tell them to pi$$ off. I can usually lose them in a crowd anyway.

What I hate is when they start guilt-tripping you- my brother especially gives to lots of charities of his own accord and will always give into a chugger, which irritates the hell out of me as rather than being grateful, most charities will ring him up and guilt him into donating even more.

Last time one started banging on about child abuse and shouting after me, "don't you CARE about the children?!" I yelled back, "no, I eat children for breakfast." It shut them up :D
