I can't remember how much I get; I think it's either £120 or £160 a year but my allowance is added onto my tax allowance. I work for more than one company in an industry where we have specific uniforms and PPE.0

Using the advice on this forum I managed to get a my tax code adjusted for cleaning my works uniform for my new job.
It was a very simple phonecall.
I've passed this money saving tip on to family members & colleagues who had no idea about this before & they have successfully been able to claim back for several years.

Hi, does anyone know whether this is applicable to students who wash a uniform that they are required to wear as a part of their degree? My course meant that I had hospital placements and exams had to be taken in uniform?
Thanks!0 -

Thanks!
this is tax relief, not a freebie handout.
If you have not paid any tax then you cannot claim tax relief0 -
If you're given a uniform that you don't have to wear every day can you still claim? I only have to wear my branded uniform for public facing events, which only happen periodically.0

I have claimed the Uniform Washer tax relief and told my son and daughter too ...C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down. My employer provides me with some polo shirts and a soft shell jacket embroidered with the company logo. I don't wear them every day as I sometimes wear a shirt and tie - it depends upon the type of environment in which I'm working. I have been claiming the allowance for several years and covering 3 different employers. This space has been intentionally left blank0

I heard about this years ago but "couldn't be bothered" I saw it on here a month ago and decided to go for it. You can do it all online and it's easy, took me an hour including setting up an account for the gov website, and filling forms in twice because of my mistake lol.
I just got £67 plus another year to come for 2017-18. I had 1 year of not allowed because I didn't pay enough tax (apparently that happens to around 15% of PAYE) so 20 odd pounds per year roughly and my tax code goes up.
If you have not applied go for it.0
