Some people have no understanding of Asian culture. Asian families will always use each other to obtain funding for schooling or business purposes. I.E. if one family member needs, say, £30,000, but has a bad credit history, other family members will obtain loans for them. It is just the way the Asian community works. Before anyone asks, no, I'm not Asian, just a white guy who understands how other cultures work.

OP, why not threaten to take-out a loan secured against your parents house then stop paying it?. The very real threat of being made homeless may just persuade them you are serious.

Oh, and btw, a verbal contract is as legally binding as a writen one in this country, that much I do remember from my contract law A levels.

Does this mean you didn't do the law course at all and they never bothered to check? I remember getting one of those loans with Barclays (which incredibly didn't turn out to be a good it at all, got a much better one later on with HSBC and than god transferred it all with them), and if I recall properly, they needed some proof of my doing the course.

I don't think there is much to do but to talk to your family. Maybe you can reach a compromise, your brother gives your parents £200 less, and that goes to you, you pay £100 for another couple of months and then it goes down again, so your parents have time to adjust to doing with less whilst your brother gradually pays it all to you, whilst still providing the rest to your parents.

I thought these boards were for a bit of advice for different situations.

    Those that have helped, thanks.

Yes I did show proof for the course, I studied it and graduated from it.

But didn't use that money to fund it.
  • In that case pay up and shut up - or go bankrupt or go to the police to report your family for fraud.
