Mine came back with a quote of about double when I changed my car some months back, so I tried to get it cheaper and nobody else was cheaper, so I phoned them and lied that others were cheaper and I managed to get a little bit of a deal and some cheap breakdown cover.

Not sure how much it is now ... guessing about £260, fully comp, no claims protected, breakdown cover, not garaged.

Next time you renew, try going through one of the cashback sites as you may get some money back that way.

We forgot. Could have saved an additional 50 quid through Quidco!

Anyone renewed their car insurance lately?

Last year, mine was £203. Upon renewal tonight, it's now £364....

    Oh dear, that`ll be a 37", not a 40" screen then.

This now appears to have hit the news recently, and just been on watchdog. Price of car insurance to soar, with many people already seeing prices go up by double, even with shopping around.

All down to uninsured drivers, and personal injury claims.

Personal injury claims should be 98% tax. Pure greed in many cases.

That and the fact their investments aren't returning what they were a few years ago and they have to get the money from somewhere - us.

Mine was £700 last year. The same company came back to me this year with a rather silly renewal quote of £1,050. I then got a quote through confused.com for around £550, my current company wouldn't match it, so I obviously changed it.

I've had my own car insurance for seven years and never been with the same company for more than one year. I have absolutely no idea how they work out their quotes, it never seems to make any sense.

My previous ins co wanted £450 this year (granted that was less than an inflationary rise on last year and they've been similar rises for the last five years) but I switched to another for £250 for the same car (2 litre turbo diesel) and fully comp cover - 46 years old, max NCD, etc.

Not bad considering that my first insurance, at 18, was £115 TPFT only on a clapped-out Austin Cambridge ;-)

The EU has ruled against premium discrination on the basis of sex.

If it goes ahead, women's car insurance premiums will increase and men's decrease.

Another nonsense ruling from the EU.

Shouldn't all insurance be calculated according to risk?

I think that's politically/socially difficult because it raises things like perhaps all pensions should be made on years NI...regardless of women taking child rearing contributions?

This bloke never switched last year, must think it is to much effort. Lets put his premium up.

I switched from Admiral to elephant and saved money this year. Not that odd you think? well it is when they are the same company. Not the same group of companies they are the same company, same call centre etc.
