I applied end of August and have had my broadband migration date postponed from mid October to early November, however my phone line was been transferred at the beginning of October, but without the free voicemail I was promised.
I was previously paying £10.50 per month to OneTel for line rental and inclusive evening and weekend phone calls, but I am about to be charged £19.99 for the Talk3 service which includes free broadband which I am still waiting for.The only extra I am receiving is free daytime calls, but I work fulltime and never use the phone during the day so I am not gaining anything. I'm still paying £14.99 to Plusnet for my broadband.
This means I will be paying an additional £9.50 per month until they get my broadband sorted out. I had to give Plusnet 30 days notice to cancel my service and to give me my MAC code. This means that if Talk Talk don't honour my new broadband date, I will be without an ISP intil they do.
I decided not to order their modem as I have a perfectly good one from Plusnet, but when my order form arrived it was inclusive of a modem at £29.99. I rang to cancel the modem and was informed that I would have to pay for it and then send it back unopened. I told them I wasn't prepared to do this and they either cancelled the modem or I would cancel my order. After being given four different numbers to call, I managed to speak to a nice British lady who apologised and offered to withdraw the modem and also said she would try and get me a refund of the additional monthly payment. I'll believe it when I see it.0 -

Personally, I think the fact that Charles Dunstone's much-publicised blog has not been updated in over 6 weeks - since 1 September 2006 - is a good indicator!
Either that he doesn't see any need to do so because everytyhing's as good as it's going to get or that it's not and he doesn't care or that ......Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
i was just about to do the poll when i got disconnected again! you couldnt make that up.....
it's cheap broadband but not free, it states that in the small print. it's not as fast as was promised. the phone bit was up and running no problem, the broadband took a lot more waiting, then we were left without service. when we rang up and got through to customer services eventually, it turns out it was just because the changeover had gone through but we hadnt received the pack. however they DID sort us out with a temporary password etc so we could get access until the pack arrived (which it did after a couple more days) a few days later, access was denied again, for no good reason, when trying to ring customer services again, the office was closed well before the time stated on the small print. but then it was working again the next day. the main annoyance is how it keeps disconnecting for no reason and didnt with the old provider. but at that price, cant really afford to knock it! so basically it's good and bad in pretty much equal measure ime.0 -
We switched to talktalk for our telephone when it was first launched & when we invested in a new PC talktalk had just launched their broadband so we signed upfor that too. We have never had any problems & are happy with the service provided The only problem we have ever had is that if we use a telephone extension cable it has a nasty habit of disconnecting half way through something, having in the past been with BT & cable I KNOW we're withe the best provider, if things change I'll let you know!!!

This is my first post on this forum and I am having a complete nightmare with talktalk. I registered in May and received my telephone line in June with no problems. I'm still waiting for my broadband connection and everytime I ring I get told I will be connected in 10days. It has been the longest 10 days of my life they have been telling me that for 2 months now. It's getting ridiculous. i even got the man in the carphone warehouse to ring and he coldn't get anywhere either. I've tried to email the CEO tonight, having found his email address in the forum but it has come back as unrecognised. Maybe he started getting too many complaints! Will try calling tomorrow.0

Signed up in May and was told June for phone and August for broadband. Phone was connected as promised and broadband came 4 weeks early. I'm still on 2Mb as the BT exchange isn't upgraded until Feb 07 but performance according to tests I've run is right up there. Only limited gripe is that if you don't want to use their modem there isn't a lot of help around. If you are not relatively computer literate it might be a bit tricky.0

The direct phono I got was 01925-554173.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I read on the TalkTalk website that they can offer free broadband to 70% of the country.
I seem to remember a previous claim was 80%.0
