What would you do with Beef Brisket in a slow cooker?

Oops! Damn! Oh well. I'll just have to leave it overnight then and have it tomorrow. I am absolutely starving, so there is no way I can wait until 8.30 to eat it. Looks like I'll be having some tuna and tomato pasta with the wife then.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Perhaps you could post a piccie of the end product?0

Well done HappyIdiotTalk - it looks lovely - living with a veggie I've never slowcooked a joint - you must let us know how it turns out. I think brisket is a lovely tasting joint when done slowly in oven, I may be tempted to do it your way - just for me
We must all be doing cooking today - i've just made a mistake in making pastry and ended up with LOADS of goodies to eat :rotfl:"It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
I live with a veggie too, so most of the joint will be eaten by me. DD1 will have a little bit of it too, but she doesn't eat much at the best of times. I've never ever cooked a joint before (even in the oven) so this is a first for me too. I cant wait to see how it turns out (and I will post a piccie LandyAndy). I might even try a bit tomorrow morning when I turn it off.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" you just hit my worst meal nightmare!! if there's 2 things i can't et it's tuna and tomatoes.0 -
I never used to like tomatoes either, but as a kid someone made me eat one with a bit of salt on and it completely changed my mind. Now I could do without them, I love tomato based foods.
Tonights tomato and tuna was very nice by the way. I made the sauce on Monday so we just heated it back up and added the tuna. The sauce seemed to have matured quite nicely over the week.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" What a great idea. Why don't we complement the existing recipe indexes with pictures of them actually being made?
I have a GORGEOUS brisket recipe just waiting to be cooked - I'd be more than happy to take pics when I cook it again!0 -
OP, this thread is a lovely idea! I'm new to the whole slow cooker thing and some pictorial advice for someone like me who never reads instructions properly (think typical guy trying to put a flat-pack wardrobe together mentality) is wonderful and very much appreciated!scheming_gypsy wrote: »you just hit my worst meal nightmare!! if there's 2 things i can't et it's tuna and tomatoes.
My worst nightmare too!! (well, if you don't count the one about being chased by giant furry spiders...:rotfl: ):staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
funny you say that... i had an email conversation with my ex a few weeks ago where she was threatening me with tomatoes and i was threatening her her with having to each mashed potato to save the world from giant spiders..
(we were at work!! better to have random email chats than do some work)0 -
PMSL I'm hoping I would be able to convince the giant spiders to eat all the tomatoes instead of chasing me... Then I could run away when they were distracted and that kills two birds with one stone... Not sure how I would get them to eat them though - but there must be a thread on here about hiding healthy food
