Misdescribing rubbish as genuine leather to many consumers and make them pay a lot more for the products because of that description is a lot more serious than shoplifting, and police deal with shoplifting. Taking money from innocent people by deception is theft.0

It's really a matter of opinion if it is more serious, but the police don't imprison people. They can take you into custody, but it's not their decision to imprison anybody.0
