Sofa miss advertised

I've had my sofa 6 months and have now been in touch with them about the durability as the cushions are perishing.
On another note; Its was advertised as Eco-Leather.
"Eco-friendly furniture. This range of furniture uses only recycled hypo allergenic leather".
After family and friends telling me I'm wrong, I decided to do a little test. I took a small sample of the sofa and burned it! It melted and dripped. Doesn't this suggest it's made of plastic, not "recycled hypo allergenic leather"?
If so, I can't find the section in which miss-sold in the SOGA is stated. Do you happen to know which section it comes under?
Thanks for reading.

Not to answer my own question, but does this statement from SOGA apply to my circumstance where the advised product is Leather, but on receipt it is found to be non-leather:
"15 Sale by sample
(2) In the case of a contract for sale by sample there is an implied term--
(c) that the goods will be free from any defect, making their quality unsatisfactory, which would not be apparent on reasonable examination of the sample."

So you have only tested it by burning it? was the bit you cut off not some sort of binding agent/plastic? How do you know that the visible parts of the sofa are not leather?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

Thanks Jeff,
I openned up one of the cushions (seat) and cut away a strip about 3 inches long of excess material after where the zipper had been sewed.
The underside of the (black) material is of white polyester-like wove, this is found all over the inside of the cushion.
Whilst I can't compare against a recycled hypo allergenic leather, research suggests it it should be leathery on the inside.
..And I don't think leather melts. It sounds stupid, but I'm asking stupid questions in a forum before making a fool of myself to the retailer.0 -
Leather always smells of leather, does it smell like the real thing ??0

I've found leather cushions a bit chilly too....:p0 -
Eco-leather is made from pieces of regenerated, natural leather bonded onto a man-made material.
Sort of like a chicken nugget being made out of a "chicken meat paste" and not a nice chunck of breast.(".)0 -
Your not wrong there.I've found leather cushions a bit chilly too....:p
Your write, it doesn't smell like leather, but I needed substancial proof that it wasn't leather. Other than burning it, I'm not sure what other tests there are which are concreate. (i.e. not the smell, pinching it or the sound it makes).0 -
There is another post on here i read yesterday sofa from furniture village and one poster gave some great information regarding bycast leather which is leather dust which is i presume sprayed on then a coat of plastic over the top you should read his post its very very interesting, companies are using the term real leather even when its just dust they use and its against the law.0
