MAGNETIX - Is it worth the money?

What a load of old rubbish, buy Magnetix, it's absolutely brilliant and fantastic for a growing childs creative mind. How can a child be hurt by it??????? If it swallows it then it's either too young to be using it or the parents can't be bothered to supervise their child when using it. Even if it does swallow it it comes straight out the other end the next day. Sheesh. Next you'll be wanting to ban crayons in case a child sticks one in his eye lolhavfrue wrote:PLEASE, Don't buy Magnetix!
The company that makes them had received several complains about children who had been hurt, but chose to ignore than rather than lose money. What happened next was that children died!
Most stores pulled them off the shelves in the US, but it sickens me that they have not recalled this product here in the UK. It shows how irresponsible (to say the least!) they are.Do not speak- unless it improves on silence.0 -
Someone mentioned this on another thread, just bought one for my niece.

Then i heard on the news about the child who had died due to swallowing the small magnet which had become loose,we binned the lot!
The surprising thing is that there was no recall in the uk, I think there was in the usa but im not sure.
Binned the lot????? Do you never take any risks like crossing the road even??0 -
Re what I posted above about Supermag, someone's given it a stinking review on Amazon. Uhoh. I ordered one earlier!

Anyone else have an opinion of this?0 -
They have now introduced a toddler version with much bigger pieces so in my opinion the company have considered the problems and do put age reccomendations on them. ELC sells play plastic money and do you think they would ever take these off the shelves??? How many kids have swollowed pennies? Far more than magnetix I would say. Anyway the toddler version possigbly called magna-tex(too late at night to do a search) looks good if you find a big enough box. I played with some in Daisy and Tom in Manchester.Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
£11,860.00 needed = £1,106 in savings

I have a lot of maganitix as I have 3 boys, and I think it is cheap and falls apart way too easy for a toy! all the little magnets stick to other magnets and come out of the rods, my advise is to go for the other brand, much safer and worth the extra.0

Say what you will, but as kzgirl said, they fall apart VERY EASILY. If a child finds a couple of those tiny magnets that have just fallen off on the floor and puts them in their mouth, the results are horrific!
Yes, it is obvious that children must be surpervised: we all do! However, it takes a second for accidents to happen!
The parents of the boy that died did not think anything would happen because the magnetix were so big. Well, they did not expect them to break so fast and without their noticing it, but it did!
Also, like you, the parents of the boy who died also believed that "the magnets would come out the other end the next day" - well, they DID NOT! Do you want to know what happened?? They got stuck together in the boy's intestines, ripping them apart which killed the boy of poisoning by his own intestinal bacteria. He was taken alive to the hospital and the parents had to watch him die: there was NOTHING the hospital could do! So yes, it is a BIG DEAL!
I am sorry, but I frankly don't think the fun of a toy is worth the risk of losing a child! I would regret the purchase for the rest of my life knowing I knew better! And yes, I supervise my children.0 -

Please read my previous post: swallowing magnets has far more terrible consequences than swallowing pennies! They DO NOT come out the other end!
I am sorry for writting so much about this, but I do feel very strongly about this topic since soooo many children have been hurt (and a couple killed) by this product!
Yes, the toddler version may look safer, but I quite frankly would not buy anything from this company. They blantly disregarded the requests of many families to pull the product off the shels after their children had been hurt and killed. They obviously don't care.0
