I have magnetix, and it is great. But I must say, you don't get much for your money. I had the set that was half price in ToysRus last year, still £50 and you can do a lot, but not THAT much. I wouldnt worry to much about the safety of them, if you look after your kid(s) then there should be a problem.
But I will add one thing, they are VERY strong magnets and should not be place near your TV, the can damage the TV quite easily!0 -
Everyone has had something good to say about these, but mine have hardly touched it
Last xmas my 7 yr old had the ferris wheel and it came out of the box that day and went back in the next!
5 yr old had the silver set and again hardly touched!
Saying this, it must be just my kids, as you can tell by everyone elses replies:o0 -
My 2 kids 7 & 5 have had geomag for a couple of years now. They started off with 2 of the panels sets and have added to it with different cheaper brand ones. It is expensive but they do get a lot of enjoyment from it.No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

Then i heard on the news about the child who had died due to swallowing the small magnet which had become loose,we binned the lot!
The surprising thing is that there was no recall in the uk, I think there was in the usa but im not sure.
Had any of the magnets in your sets come loose?0 -

Just the thought of the magnets in the small intestine of a child was enough to get rid of them!0 -
PLEASE, Don't buy Magnetix!
The company that makes them had received several complains about children who had been hurt, but chose to ignore than rather than lose money. What happened next was that children died!
Most stores pulled them off the shelves in the US, but it sickens me that they have not recalled this product here in the UK. It shows how irresponsible (to say the least!) they are.0 -
Our branch of The Works currently has lots of different Geomag sets.
And I've just checked their online site:

Edit: for some reason, this isn't the search I did, but search under Geomag and there's a good choice.0 -

As for it being dangerous, obviously accidents will happen , but it is the parents responsibility as with any toy of this kind to supervise their children if they think they would be inclined to put it in their mouths/ears or the like, this could happen with any small construction toys I.e: Lego, K-nex0
