managed to get car through mot for £375 which wasn't too bad. Insurance was £265 and road tax £125, so an expensive month.
Got some ex display bunks with mattresses (economy so they're going to use their old ones which are nicer) anyway they were only £80 and we're going to save the mattresses to use to dress our old house for sale, as its empty and the EA thinks potential buyers think that the rooms aren't big enough as they can't visualise without furniture.
More than halfway through my PGCE placement, and counting down the days, 10 left. Cannot wait to be back in uni just 2 days a week, really missing the kids especially the baby who I'm up all night breastfeeding and then teaching all day.OPs so far £42,139

Well even I've managed to surpass myself this time.
I am known for pushing it a bit too hard, if you think about our income, our OPs have been pretty phenomenal and I'm pretty much like this about every aspect of my life. When I decide to do something I put my heart and soul in.
The three jobs to get the deposit for the rental house. The extended exclusive breast feeding. Not going to pieces over DD2 and wondering what sort of life she would have, when given 8% chance of survival. I gave birth to DD3 alone in the street - so I like to think I'm made of pretty strong stuff.
However, this PGCE placement is absolutely killing me. I'm usually pretty strong, but it is mentally and physically the worst thing I've ever experienced. The bullying, !!!!!ing, back biting, missing my kids. It really has almost beaten me. Five days to go and I'm on a warning from uni that I've got to show some progress - so I'll have to try really hard, be the bigger person and pray for a miracle.
(I'll be carrying my card from church 'with our prayers and good wishes - we are with you always' to try and chivy me alongOPs so far £42,139

oh dear so sorry its really hard going I did try and warn you!!
When does it finish?(As I remember you said you were doing it part time) Can you put the kids in for extra childcare-is OH doing enough or can any family some to stay for a bit so you can solely concentrate on it?0 -
Well I've failed my PGCE placement, I officially finish on Fri, but I've not made the progress required so I will have to go and re do the placement.
Don't know the ins and outs yet, but my tutor emailed me tonight to ask me if I'd consider re doing the placement elsewhere and not finishing the week, I've only got 2 days left. So they're not going to pass me it seems.
My class teacher said I've got to finish though now and she'd be really disappointed if I didn't with two days to go, so I'll just have to perk myself up - have spent most of the week in tears, as it's just been so hard.
Can't afford to re do the placement due to childcare costs and now OH has had a promotion he's never around, as he works away a lot now. People warned me, but I thought I'd prove them wrong, but it seems my dreams of being a primary school teacher will remain just those dreams.OPs so far £42,139

oh no im so sorry cruel of the teacher to fail you but still expect you to go in.
Can you take a year out? If Oh is away a lot you're basically running the house and looking after 3 small children no wonder you're struggling Go back when you've saved up a bit for childcare and its less stressful.0 -

Hi!
I have read your diary from start to finish! Such highs and lows.
Congratulations on the amazing family house and the arrival of dd3. Can't believe you gave birth in the street, that is some birth story.
So sorry to hear about your PGCE. Sounds like you have had a rough ride.

Thanks everyone, for your support.
Muser surprised you managed to get through the ramblings, it never really feels like there's been loads of highs and lows, it's just life for us. Overall I try to remain positive:)
Cocalls I knew it would be hard, just didn't realise it would be this hard. the timing was really bad, I suspected I was pregnant the day I went for the interview. Then I found out I was pregnant (but it was such early days) I thought if I miscarry I'll regret not doing the course.
115K thanks for reading and taking the time to post.
Final day of placement tomorrow, and one final appraisal - I've failed so I might as well enjoy it :rotfl:OPs so far £42,139

have decided to beat the bullet and pay off £4000.
Don't have any savings other than £1500 in the rent account - but we live our life like this. Think Oh has £1000, so combined it's 4 months mortgage payments for rental house, so that's ok.
It's taken 9 months off the term. Thinking for the new year, new goal. 5 years to mortgage free. It's doable with a consistent £500 a month overpayment can we do it? Who knows. I'll give it a try.OPs so far £42,139

Just had a play with the mortgage calculator, if I hadn't stumbled on this site three years ago, and hadn't made any Ops.
I'd still owe £130,000 on my mortgage (with 24 years left to go) 30 year initial term.
Currently I owe around £83,000 with approximately 11 years left. (Oped today so awaiting letter confirmation from Hally with amended term etc.)
The calculator reckons I've saved £113,000 in interest (that is mental) :rotfl:OPs so far £42,139
