Mis-sold Iphone 3GS

Before upgrading to my iphone 3GS I specifically asked the girl on the phone will there be a newer updated iphone coming out in the summer (as Apple always tend to bring out their new products in the summer June/ July or August), this woman reassured me that a new phone was not coming out this year so I agreed to upgrade my phone.

There is no way on earth I would have upgraded then knowing I would be stuck with an out of date iphone for the next two years, I feel I have been mis-sold the iphone. Luckily I was informed that the phone call will be recorded for training purposes so you go back and check my story out.

I knew the iphone 3GS didn’t have a good camera/ videoing capabilities so again would never have agreed to sign up knowing this would be improved with the new iphone 4. I have a 1 year old and do use the camera & videoing quite a lot (even though it’s not great).

Have I got a case to moan about being mis-sold the iPhone 3GS when I specifically asked or said I'd wait for a newer iPhone 4 ?

Not a chance! the reps can only tell you about what is currently available, if you feared there are new models arriving then you simply have to wait.
If you want the phone feature specifically, then lots already know the iphone is not the camera king, everything you buy will be superceeded eventually.

when was this exactly didnt they announce the iphone 4 in about march?

anyway they do that all the time they'll always tell u theres nothing newer coming out and this is the best thing there is-i was told the widlfire was the best phone out when clearly it isnt

Think the iPhone 4 was announced in about June (about a week after I signed up for a 2 year contract)

the rumours about it coming out were well before that they released the date in june but everyone knew about another phone coming out-if you looked round the internet you would have found loads of forums talking about it

u could try and compalin if it was that close to the launch of it but they'll prob just deny that the salesperson knew anything about it

Google is usually a good source of rumour which is a good indication of what is in the pipeline.

We are in October, Steve Jobs annouced product in June, Gizmondo got hold of a prototype some time before and iPhone geeks were speculating since the launch of 3GS on the next version.

The phone providerwould say at the time you got your phone no official annoucement had been made from Apple.

The 3GS is still a good phone and didn't turn bad once the iPhone 4 came out

thats true ive still got my 3gs alot of people i know wont upgrade to 4 because theres little difference

You've not been mis-sold anything, you are just annoyed that you've got a obsolete phone for 2 years.
I'd seen the iphone 4 in late April so not sure how you didn't know about it in June.

What would you have done if she had told you there would be a new model, and then it never happened? If you wanted a good camera, there are much better (and cheaper) phones available.
