I can do the xmas market, it isnt big. But not all day is what I meant.:j:j:j Do you know how to get to the station from your hotel?0

I think you've got me mixed up with someone else. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
Who's staying at the Ibis ? God and this is before we even hit the pub ....0

don't worry Mardatha I probably couldn't spend all day at the Market either! you been on the wine gums this eve?
pretty sure the main museum is shut for another couple of years, but I think the Scottish museum next to it is still open.

Oh ok, just thought I saw it on tv about renovations. The cafe in the museum was nice but very noisy.
Am sure I read somewhere that somebody was staying at the Ibis. God its not wine gums its dementia.

Oh hurray - a pub
. Maybe a good idea to kind of plan which one/ have a few ideas before we meet up? I know there are littlies as well. Pub-wise, there is Doctors, up beside the uni, so quite close to the museum (which is still open as far as I know - we have been a few times - think maybe it's just part of it closed). Doctors is cheap for food but would have to check that the licence includes children. But it's only 'handy' if we are going to the museum. Otherwise - I'm trying to think of places near train station. What about Milnes Bar in Rose St? It's quite big so we should be able to be fitted in. Think main courses there might be about £7 or £8 which is dearer than Doctors. That would keep us quite near the gardens for the Christmas fayre/ thingie.
Will ask DH as he usual has ideas for pubs. If we did go to one around there, that would surely be handy for the bus route to the zoo for those going on there afterwards? hang on, there is a nice Wetherspoons in George St, right down opposite Browns. Can't remember its name but its not The Standing Order. The bus stop for the zoo would be handy and the gardens would also be a short walk.
Really looking forward to this! Am going to get plenty rest in advance.

ps been so long winded with this typing that I didn't see La cara's post about the scottish bit being open. It's quite big - think it's just the scottish entrance and then you get through to most bits once in0 -
come to think of it the Filling Station on Rose St is reasonably cheap, they usually do a lunchtime menu of 2/3 courses for under £10 but not sure if this offer is on at weekends or how busy it would be :undecided hmmm will ask around and see what else I can come up with0

As I will have the OM ( decided to call him the old man since he turned 70) in tow I will have to ensure that he gets a meal before he hits the pub in the hope that he might stay sober enough to guide me back to the hotel!! As we will be in town from some Godawful hour of the morning I can maybe feed him before we meet.
Would like to visit the Christmas Markets, apart from that think that sitting somewhere and chewing the fat with everyone is what it should be about for me.
Csarina...so glad that you will make it for lunch.
La Cara....have you heard from Wanabe Organic since we met last year....think I will pm her.

Filling Station sounds good. I've only been to the one in Glasgow but there is a good variety on the menu. I'm beginning to get hungry!! Off for some toast (I know how to live it up )
