Just a quick warning to Sainsbury's shoppers to check that all items purchased are put into your carrier bag!!
i purchased a couple of items today, and on getting home, i noticed that 2items hadn't been put in the bag by the cashier at the tobacco kiosk
what's more, they only gave me the receipt for the debit card transaction...not the first itemised receipt, so i don't have any evidence
the items were only about £2 but still it made me mad
this has also happened last week to a friend with cigarettes...
what can i do...will they believe me at customer services or should i write a letter of complaint to head office?

I would write in. You should get a copy of the receipt that lists all the goods as required uner the Sale of Goods Act. They should be able to trace the goods that were scanned through, but proving that you did not receive them will be a different matter, and you would basically be relying on the sainsbury's good will to refund or compensate you.
Tescos have a habit of only giving the debit card docket (and also of not putting through all the vouchers given to them).
I always pack the goods myself. not only to make sure I have everything, but also because shop staff have a very strange way of packing (or maybe I do...). Bottles standing up instead of lying down, putting about three items in a bag when 10 items could fit in, not doubling up bags with bottles, putting soft goods (eg, tomatoes) underneath heavy goods (eg, bottles)..... I'll stop there!Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0 -
They should be able to get a copy of the receipt from the details on the card transaction slip as these should show the time of transaction, date and till number (my Tesco ones do anyway). I have been at the customer services desk at Tesco when they have entered into a book items left at tills so it may not be as difficult to prove they were left behind as you think, if Sainsbury have a similar system.0

Sounds like someone's on the fiddle.
Write to head office and state you consider it theft.
Go to the store again and catch them out.
Just go to the tobacco kiosk and make some purchases - make no other purchases before hand.
If they do it wrong go straight to the manager with just the receipt for the debit card transaction and bag with missing items.
The items in the bag will not total the amount on the debit card receipt.
You can state that head office have on record your report of the previous incident.0 -
to be fair, i think they were in a rush, as the store was about to close and there was a big queue at the kiosk...
UPDATE: just went in today, saw the guy who served me, and he let me go and get replacement items :T:beer:

Yes, people are not allowed to make mistakes, everyone is on the fiddle and a lying thief.0 -
Yes, If staff want to steal at work they arn't going to take your items worth £2!!!!!
I think most thiefs will want something a little more lucritive!0 -
I had the same with Asda
they had the charity kids in packing bags and one of the two moved from our till to another and about £15 of goods went missing
I went back a day later and the duty manager refused to handle the matter, refusing to come to the customer service desk.
I pushed the sales girl who eventually got me the duty manager who refused to help- 2 we allow the charities in as a good will jesture but its your responsablity to ensure you get your shopping, we cant be held responsible"
I said I was disgusted that they would not accept liability for actions in their own stores and that I think as a matter of good will they would replace the missing itmes or I would take the matter further to their HQ and contact the local press whilst still in the store for immedaite photos.
they gave us the gear asap - when Iw ent abck to the customer service desk the young girl told me they had lots of similar problems but toher ppl didnt get their missing shopping
Gibbynever take advice from broke or unsuccessful people

When you at a sainburys Kiosk you are either asked if you would like an itemised receipt or you request it.
As boofy said Kiosks usually deal in tobacco products and 90% of customers do not require receipts so Sainburys stopped them printing.
I work for sainsburys and nothing is more annoying than a customer who does not pay attention at the till. I believe it was your fault you lost out on those two items as you really should of packed your own bags or at least check your items are in the bag before you leave and make sure the till area is clear.
Do you know how many people a Day leave stuff at a till? Cards, wallets, money, items, children!?
You can try customer services 90% of the time they will believe anything anyone has to say, remember "the customer is always right" :rolleyes:0
