I am new to ebay and still learning.

So far I have been sent two obvious fake items. At the time I brought both sellers had very high and very good feedback.

The goods arrived and in both cases soon afterwards their feedback went into a nose drive and they were kicked off ebay. Made no sense to me.

I lost a PP claim for the first as I could not provide proof in time - did not even know I would be asked for it :(

I won a Ebay claim for the second and did not have to provide any proof or send the item back.:)

Was it for item not as described rather than counterfeit the second time maybe?

    Yes you are right.

I provided my own details why the item was fake along the lines of what the OP states but presented formally. The seller did not respond and ebay closed the case with a refund.
  • Well afew minutes ago i emailed the seller to say i was going to contact ebay and open a case. While i was doing this they emailed me to say they would refund me (within seconds-funny how they couldnt respond to my other messages) The case had been opened about 2 mins when i recieved a full refund and the case was closed with no mention of returning the jacket either!

    Result!

File through Ebay not PaypalL, ebay now put the onus on the seller to prove it's authentic whether paypal put the onus on the buyer,

have you contacted the seller to see if he is willing to refund voluntarily? if he isn't ebay dispute it

    HTH

    missed the post above oops

  • What should i do about feedback? I feel mean leaving negative feedback as i now have the jacket and the money but how do you stop others falling for the same thing if you are not honest?

assuming you didnt get any proof that the item was definately fake, stick with the facts in your feedback eg. "refunded in full after complaint about autheticity"

If it was a business seller just send it back under DSR. he can not refuse you a full refund. Then neg him for selling fakes, please remember the next time though that 99% of designer gear on ebay is fake.

Adidas is hardly designer gear. It is a very common and popular sports brand, like Nike, that is readily available on every high street.

I have bought fake Nike Air Force one trainers on Ebay. They turned up, unboxed. I smelt them - meant to be leather and they were 100% plastic.

Informed the seller that they were fakes. Seller got arsey and told me to return for a refund. Told them that I wouldn't be wasting money returning fake goods. Let them know what they had done was illegal and I would be reporting them to Trading standards.

Lo and behold - they said they would refund me if I didn't tell Trading Standards. Once I had my refund I

I buy at auctions in the Manchester region. There have been thousands of Nike, Adidas, Ping etc items on auction for months. All from the closure of the JJB stores. Costco sell their end of season stuff by auction also. You have no basis for that comment other than guesswork.

Your joking right, the legit gear comes to the 1% of thousands of fake items listed on ebay every week. As a legit retailer I know how hard it is to get accounts for designer gear and thats with high Street shops. No major brand even allows their merchandise to be listed on ebay, this will get your account closed, if caught.
I have plenty of basis for the statement.
