send the insurance company an email with a link to this thread letting them know that quite a few thousand people are reading it and that they would be very interested to know which company it is.  That might do the trick.  Its worked for me in the past  ;)

Better get back to the thread................................................

    Theives suck >:( >:( >:( >:(

Like some Arab states I think that we should start to cut off a hand from those unwanted people(s**t heads).

I think that would make a bigger deterrent than community service.

    Cigar smoking Prime Ministers, huh.

I hope you get the insurance claim sorted out ok.  I would send them an email and once it has been sent, print it out with the time and everything.  At least you have some comeback if they get stroppy about things.  It says you have to contact them immediately to notify them of recovery etc so by any means I would imagine and if you can't call them, then email would be your next best bet, or a fax.  So long as you have some comeback and proof that you contacted them it should be ok.

Here is a link that should be of help, I would just send an email to the relevant section, open or not, at least you contacted them.  Not your fault that you couldn't get them on the phone.  Give the dog a phone my foot (you can't he's on !!!!!! holiday), I'd give it more than a phone!!!  Put that in the email too...

It was Mutualpoints (Mypoints at the time).  They'd not credited me (and quite a few others) with points for signing up to a casino website (worth quite a few quid so not to be sniffed at).

After much to-ing and fro-ing of emails with them asking me to give them precise subscription dates (which I didn't have - i learnt a lesson from that  ::)) I sent a link to the mypoints thread pointing out that several people hadn't received theirs either and that I was updating the thread with developments.

They finally added the points manually and added a few more points on top although the extra ones disappeared again when I tried to cash them in  :(.

Still, it did what I wanted and made them get their a*ses in gear.  Or, at least, I like to think so. :)

thought i would keep you updated on this.

The police called the other day to politely tell us that the bike was still at the station and could we move it. so i called the insurance company and said why havent you moved the bike its been over a week now, they claimed that they had told the garage to pick it up so i should call them, when i said surely you should do that got the reply 'oh no thats not my job, thats down to you!!' couldnt be bothered to argue so i caled the garage they have had no request to pick up the bike from the insurance company!! Called the dog loving company again and told them this oh well we will fax it over to them again. This time it got through the grage called me to tell me this (great cust service from honda salisbury!!) and said they would pick it up the next day.

The next day came i had a phone call from the garage saying the police would not release the bike as the needed forensics to lookat it first. I called the police station and asked why were they calling me to get me to pick it up when they havent finished with it? all i got was a sorry the call was a mistake!!! Then proceeded to tell me that there is only 1 forensics man in the whole of dorset!! (where does my council tax go???) so it could take a while.

I am still waiting to hear from the police and the insurance company so no better off yet!! will keep you updated when/if i get a result!

    Hi Divadee  :)

You have my sympathy, I know exactly how you feel.  Our shed was broken into a while back and I also had trouble sleeping.  Especially when hubby went on nights for a while.  I felt really uncomfortable knowing that as we slept, someone was in our garden.  It takes a while, but you will feel better.  :)  Try not to take it personally, these low lives strike at random.  Maybe a good idea to look at your security.  If you can't do any more, give up worrying, there is nothing else you can do.

I could rant all day about the police.  Yes I know they are overstretched and understaffed, but when something happens to you personally, it is very hard to accept.

My son and 3 of his friends were beaten up quite recently by a big gang of older lads, no motive, just for the hell of it.  When we got to casualty we were horrified to find lots of other youngsters had all been attacked by the same gang, some were very badly injured.  It made me cry to look at them, it will be etched in my mind for ever.   Despite my phone calls and a visit to a police station, they had no-one to deal with the complaint.  It took them 2 and a half days to send someone.  Their 'excuse' was, it was not a priority.  Aparently, they are trying out a new system, similiar to the triage used at hospital.  Incidents are now dealt with according to this and a large group of youths on the loose, beating people up at will, doesn't appear to be an emergency.  It makes my blood boil.

guy rang the police and said  there are two men in my shed,   if you come now, youll catch them

"sorry" said the police " were  too short staffed right now"

5 mins later the man rang back and said
"you know those two men in my shed?? well Ive just shot them"

3 mins later a host of cops showed up  plus a helicopter plus an armed response unit

"you lied to us" they said as they arrested him  "you didnt shoot anyone"

"well you started it" he said  "you lied and said you were short staffed"

My parents live on a farm and have been pounced on a couple of times in the middle of the night. My dad's quad bike which was chained to a post in the middle of the (locked) workshop behind a tractor (also locked) was stolen in the middle of the night. It was eventually found during a drugs raid in Liverpool 6 months later (it had been postcoded and marked all over linking it to my dad) - 150 miles away from their house. The police at the time said "these things happen" - what?

Also a stone water trough that my mum used for flowers at the front of the house (must have literally weighed a tonne) was also stolen in the middle of the night. Again from the police "these things are very attractive".

And my poor grandparents lost alot of silverware thanks to a couple of thieves. The advice of the police? Go to the local Sunday market and see if anything turns up....... They weren't happy! At the grand old age of 80, they weren't going to "pop" to the Sunday market!

Forgot to say that my brother's car (G reg Fiesta RIP) got stolen in Newcastle. It was quite "tired" anyway, but it managed to break down a mile away from where it was stolen! We're all convinced that the car "knew what was happening to it".
