Plenty of people are declared formally insolvent and then manage to earn a good living after the BO restrictions are lifted. Please refrain from giving advice if you don't have any formal training in insolvency. Misinformed advice is dangerous, however good the sentiment is.
There was reference to supposed age in the advice.
Meaning, that you don't have much time to purchase a property, take a mortgage etc... Because some years noone will touch you with a barge pole, then you have to build new credit - and then it is too late.
Time frame was the point in this case.
You have to consider all aspects, and you have clearly not consider that one. And the profession part - in my profession I would be nothing if I ever went bankrupt. The best job I would get is probably input data clerk.0 -
I think the point has been well and truely made now.
I would hope that the OP has taken on board the commentary and is seeking professional help.
You have to admire her trust of the boyfriend.
Nah I don't...blind trust in the face of plainly scummy behaviour is stupidity, not trust"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
If we're being pedantic, the question regarding not being able to rebuild his life made no mention of his profession being an influencing factor, only his age.
Unless the OP returns and advises that the person in question wants to pursue a career in Accounts, Law or one of the other professions possibly affected by Bankruptcy, I still feel Bankruptcy could be the best advice, based on the info provided so far.
I would suggest the OP takes professional advice somewhere other than a message board where they can be sure that whatever advice is provided comes with some accountability and redress if it turns sour.0 -
I only earn £650 a month. I'm paying off £20,000 worth of debt and still have to live also. Sacrifices have to be made. The debt was run up - It has to be paid back. I don't claim anything and I haven't had a break for 2.5 years and I work 7 days a week. Get on the debt free wannabe board and sort yourselves out.0

If you had been in the situation he has been in over the last 3 years i think you would understand the need to get away.
Sorry but your bf is pathetic, he goes off and blows his redundancy buy travelling for 8 months, with no thought for his debts, and he then expects his debts to be 'written off' what planet is he on. Let's hope he's made bankrupt.0 -

Personally i think bankrupts are let off lightly, basically after 6 years your credit worthy again, personally think it should be 10 years.0
