Fab information on the Osprey Cruises GG - thanks for that, they sound brilliant and Ospreys are one of the native Raptors we've not seen before. We'll have a look into that I think - maybe next year along with the repeat visit to the Farne Islands for the Puffins! Hope you have a fab time on yours tomorrow!

Have now spoken with Northern Rock re the Mortgage and we have been actively encouraged to shorten the term so having discussed it at this end we're going to knock five years off. :j And the basic payment will only be about £50 more than the basic at the moment so we'll still be able to O/P! :j:j And when I spoke to them about that I lumped another £20 per month onto the existing O/P So we're now O/P'ing over 50%! :j:j:j Have been playing frantically with the spreadsheets for a few days as you can imagine! :D

    Skulks in........

Up at 4.45am for trip. Saw only one osprey briefly, but will probably go back next week or week after to a hide & watch the chicks get ready to fledge. Then went to bird watching centre for brekkie & looked at their slides from their winter trip to Gambia. Realised I had got up at 4.45 to look at rare birds I have been looking at on beach in Gambia for 3 years :o. Feel a bit stupid really :rotfl:

    Skulks out again........

your mortgage changes are great EH! 5 years is a great swathe cut off, the first time i remortgaged i also managed to drop 5 years and i just thought of it as 5 years of payments which would effectively have been interest (about £28k i guessed). And still being able to over pay is even better. It will be gone in no time.

Awww GG Sorry the Osprey thing wasn't as good as you hoped - fingers crossed you'll have more luck if you go back again.

Thanks LT & Taxi! I'm pretty chuffed about the five year cut in the term I must say....but it got better when I spoke with Northern Rock as it turns out the rate they are offering us for the 5 year fix without the fee has dropped.....and is now the same rate as the 5 year fix WITH the fee would have been! :D We reckon that will knock another 4 months off the MFD if we can carry on OP'ing at the same level or better. :T As far as the OP's go we'll be limited to 10% O/P's per year, which will effect us come the last two years of the fix - so I will have to make a note to ensure I don't forget to look at that at the time. I guess that will be the point that we start throwing any excess into savings with a view to setting aside against paying off early in a lump eventually.

Off to Norfolk tomorrow for a weekend camping with some pals from the Great British Beer Festival. We'll all be working our socks off AT the festival in a fortnight so felt it a good idea to let our hair down in advance! :rotfl: How else but ANOTHER beer festival - a small one at the BNorth Norfolk Railway this time. Should be fun, although wet judging by the forecast!

MrEH did a sterling job this morning getting the accommodation booked for our trip to the Good Food show in November - we usually stay at a Travelodge on the Coventry Road at Yardley - a direct bus ride into Birmingham for the saturday night out, and a direct bus ride to and from the NEC for the Sunday.... because of the situation though we've had to pay anything up to £110 for the two nights in the past. This time MrEH spotted that the Travelodge a little further along Coventry Road closer to the NEC had saver rate rooms available, and got the two nights for £58! :T:T:T Now, as he says, we just need to remember we're staying somewhere different!

In "other news" Great Britain have been dumped unceremoniously out of the Speedway World Cup this evening - beaten by Russia for goodness sake! Ah well, roll on a cracking final on Saturday and "COME ON POLSKA!" :D
