Cheers Pippi - we plan to!

LT Avon seems to be booming this time round - not sure why but I'm now at over £200 and that's still before collecting back the "regulars" books - not sure what's made it take off so much this time as although some of it is the new territory that only accounts for about £65 of it. Sorting through 3 orders are from people who've only ever ordered once before, 3 are from semi-regulars who didn't order anything last time, so had their books earlier this time, one is from a former regular who'd been away looking after a family member for a couple of months, and one is from someone who's only just moved in to the area. That kind of makes a bit of sense of it really. Got three orders remaining to deliver and hopefully I will get rid of at [STRIKE]least two of[/STRIKE] those this afternoon. (third customer emailed as I was typing to say she'll be in later too!)

Letter from British Gas saying they are taking the DD for the electric on the 27th this month - goodness knows why, presumably someone cancelled it again by mistake and that's the earliest they can take it after setting it up again!

My regular client called yesterday to ask if I can do another couple of days a month for them. :j Too right I can - that will make all the difference between "squeaky" and actually being able to stash a little bit of spare away against emergencies again. Did a little dance after we'd finished speaking - which would have been fine if I'd not been in the street at the time. :o Had a quick chat with MrEH last night and we're going to put a little extra to the mortgage, then leave the balance to go between the holiday fund, household fund, and bolstering the joint account a little. Might only be a trickle to each pot but it's a very welcome trickle! :D

Food at speedway last night was a jacket spud with beans and cheese, and thanks to the meeting having several delays and running on right to the 10pm curfew it was too late by the time I left to be tempted to stop for crisps or chocolate! Met a twitter-pal for the first time too which was good fun, and the lovely Witches won the meeting (just!) so we were happy. Porridge for breakfast today, and some more of those odd noodles at lunchtime, only these were VERY spicey - thank goodness I only put half the seasoning stuff in! had a chunk of crusty bread with those, and 2 kiwis and a nectarine after. All good so far.

I can understand why ME - I can't imagine missing Cardiff now! :D Can't possibly be seen associating with a Kings Lynn fan though - I'd have my Witches privileges removed! :p;)

Just been watching Murray make quite incredibly heavy weather of his match - mind you having finally won it he actually smiled at the end - not sure I've ever seen that before! :rotfl:

Hopefully the weekend should be reasonably frugal - we've got a room in a student hall of residence for tomorrow night @ £35, and the GP tickets are already bought and paid for so it's really just diesel and food. Thoroughly looking forward to it in any event! :D

Phew - good job I've subscribed to this - it must have been about 20 pages down!

Cardiff was a fabby weekend as ever, and we had a lovely day at the Didcot Railway Centre on the Sunday also for MrEH's birthday, stopping in a little village on the way back to watch about half a dozen Red Kites circling overhead - a proper "Wow" moment!

Financial update I think then so I can stay on track:

    Money In:
MrEH has been paid and this is the first month that his payrise takes effect so we are just a little better off. This has the result of meaning that - as things stand at the moment - we are only a smidge short of being OK for all our DD's to the middle of the month, so hurrah for that! My invoice is with my clients and should get paid next week - and that includes the extra day I did at the end of May, the proceeds of which will head into the holiday fund I think. Avon is still looking reasonable and hopefully I may get a few last minute orders yet. I have several customers that often order in the last few days of the campaign so fingers crossed.

    Mortgage OP:
Now increased again, just slightly, and there will be another small increase to put in place from next month once my extra days with my regular client kick in properly. Still amazes me to see how just a small (£10 - £30) change to the monthly payments makes a noticeable difference to the end date! :T

    Other Stuff:
I have a birthday coming up this month and OH wants to know what I want - I have to think of stuff I actually *need* that I can get him to buy for me! :D
The "Make £1 a day" Ideas seems to be going OK - some days I do it, some I don't, all depends on the surveys etc. Today I'm up to £2.95!

In other news - although technically still financial - we had the paperwork through from Northern Rock yesterday about our Mortgage deal coming to an end on September. Pleasantly surprised - the deals they are offering are FAR better than I would have expected - we're currently on 5.39% so the 4.69% they've offered for a 5 year, no fee fix looks enticing. There is also both 3 year and 5 year options with fees - which we'd look to pay upfront - which may be worth a look. The spreadsheets were out last night anyway and we've started doing some calculations. We both favour the 5 year fixes - the current big question is whether to pay slightly higher interest with no fee, and put that extra £995 into doing up the bathroom.....Hmmmmm. We've got until 15th July to work out what to do in any case.

  • Sounds like a great weekend :j.

Its hard over the mortgage as we have no idea what is going to happen to the rate. I guess you need to work out at what point the amount you pay now would no longer be an OP compared to being on a fixed rate and paying the fee.
