Lemon_Tree wrote: »that's great news EH. Well done for completing your friday list. I did as well but it only involved the double glazing man and baking copious amounts of cake so wasn't so taxing, though i don't know how people spend their day at work on their feet, i'm aching from my neck downwards.
How did it go with the Double glazing man? Or do you have to wait to hear from him?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

he gave us a price there and then. and we didn't the whole rigmarole of a stupid price then ringing management etc and knocking it down. He was also more than happy for us to think about it and get in touch with him if we want to go ahead.
I think the price was pretty reasonable (helped by 35% discount this month) but i've never bought windows before so i don't have much of a guideline for them. We can afford them but it does mean we'll use up the money i've saved against my loan but i can save that up again and not have to use further credit.0 -
sounds good that you have enough to pay for them LT and they'll save money on your heating bill0

Hi EH - am envious you have your list sorted but good for you!
Hi LemonTree - don't forget to pay your deposit with a credit card - for protection in case they go under or anything.

that's a good idea, they're a local company who have been going for over 40 years but you never know.0

Yep, better safe than sorry, particularly in the current climate (economic, rather than temperature!). Really glad you've made the decision to go for it - it will make such a difference. MrEH and I were talking about stuff earlier and we think that any money we save off the costs of the works that were done to the flats earlier in the year ought to go towards improvements to the place - it would be money we weren't expecting to have in the first place so seems sensible to use it for something along those lines which will at least add value as well.
Popped in to Tesco earlier - I bought a large red cabbage in Lidl yesterday and wanted some cooking apples to go with it for braised red cabbage and apple. It was the right time of day to go in though as I came out with a bag-full of stuff for under £4 - couple of punnets of cherry toms, couple of packs of coriander, a large pineapple, a takeaway sized portion of pilau rice and a chicken and mushroom concoction that can be either a pie filling, or a pasta sauce, or various other things depending on how you want to use it apparently - not usually the sort of thing I would buy at all, but for 75p I thought it was worth a shot! And yes, I did remember to get the cooking apples too! Means my grocery spreadsheet total is looking a little higher than I would ideally like for this stage of the month but I know that will level out gradually.
Meals for this week will be:
Spinach and cheese frittata
leftover lamb shredded and done with rice & moroccan-type spices
Soup & crusty bread
Possibly Pippi's Tartiflette thing as that sounds lovely and can easily be done separately for me & OH as he'll probably have rugby practice. (Weather permitting, oddly enough they bottled out of it this week! :rotfl: )
Freezer chicken curry & pilau rice
There - written out now, I have a meal plan! :T🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks Brizzle! North Uist is our Island of choice, although we also love South Uist, Berneray and Skye. Never yet been to Tiree, but we visited Mull a few years ago and loved it.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

EH is it still your dream to end up living in that part of the world eventually. If so then i guess sorting the flat out internally with the money is a good idea! Might bring the scottish isles a bit quicker to you!
Well done on getting your list done.
My diary has sprouted a mammoth one for the week.:eek:

Yes, certainly is Chev - and you're right, we have to think about investing money into here so it maintains its value as we will need every penny once the mortgage is paid up and we can sell, and relocate.
I'm going to have an "Avon day" tomorrow as my order is due, so will probably put together my list of things to do tomorrow morning. Off to find yours now and cheerlead for you over there!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
