This thread had thrown me off-balance.

I just have sky HD installed last week and was about to buy a full HD TV before weekend.

I didnt know is not compulsory to buy Full HD to watch sky HD.

    What do you guys recommend?

I have limited budget? Can i just go for HD ready TV instead?

Sorry for hijacking this tread OP.

    Cheers all.

the human eye can only resolve a finite amount of information, the smaller the set and or the further away you sit the less need there is for full hd, in reality full hd on under a 40" tv is pointless unless your 6 foot away, in the same way full hd on a 40" at 20 foot would be pointless

its also pointless if you need glasses / contacts and do not wear them

Go to a reputable TV dealer and ask your questions of them. Ask them the difference, ask them to demonstrate each type of TV, view them from the distance that you will be doing so at home AND ask them to show you the TVs with an SD picture on it.
If they won't do ALL of those for you - walk away !

I would suggest John Lewis - my local one did everything I asked: Comet, Currys et al wouldn't do anything.

HD ready appears to be cheaper than 1080.

I also have been looking at getting a new tv and have been told buy a better quality 720p then a cheaper. I will be using mine for gaming only and was told 720p sp things wont be getting scaled, Also agree on the comment any thing smaller than 40" get 720p.
