Just got back from Asda and have never had such a good shop:

4 packs of sirloin steak: £9.00 (ish) each down to 50p each
3 packs chicken thighs: £3.28 down to 50p each
1 pack chicken breasts: £4.57 down to 50p
    1 pack lamb steak: 4.38 down to...yes, you've guessed it, 50p
1 pack organic pork tenderloins: 5.60 down to 50p :j

and plenty left for all the other vultures like myself so I don't feel too guilty! ;)

Well when I worked at Asda I finished at 9 and store closed at 10pm. I found in one go:

    Organic chicken 50p
2x sliced chicken breasts 40p each!

Also on a sunday they use to come round the tills with cooked chickens from hot counter they didn't sell at stupidly reduced prices lol.

I found a few bargains at my local Sainsburys on New Years Day (really good to go in then) and we got 3 massive steaks for 99p each. Enough for 2 in one steak!
  • I had a pretty good haul from my Co-Op the other day, and it wasn't even in the evening- I got a tub of "fancy" tomato & mozzarella pasta for 30p, a pack of spicy chicken breast chunks for 45p, and a cheese and onion quiche for something like 32p! :D
  • The best I got from Asda was Walls Chicken and Bacon pies. I think the normal price is something like £1.50, they were marked down to 2p each. I bought about 30 of them. I would have got more but i didnt have any room, there was 2 shelves dedicated to them. They must have got lost in the cold rooms or something.
    Total debt Aug 2012: £3800, Nov: £3225, Dec: £3151.45 2013: Jan: £1544.24 :j Feb: £1492.03 :( Sept 2013: Debt free :D

My other half is now getting addicted to bargain-hunting in Asda at 8pm - Sunday night is especially good!

Lots of stuff in ours is reduced to 5p,so he gets the ciabatta rolls for us and any cabbages/greens, beansprouts, noodles etc for the chookies

i picked up some great bargains last week i was in the store by chance after 9pm and it closed at 10pm will have to pop by again but i find if i plan to look for whoopsies theres usually none to be found ..

    scottish plain loaf 2p
    sausage meat 2p bought 2
    box mushrooms 1p
    butternut squash 3p
    onion gravy 1p

a magic find havent been that lucky in ages :-)
  • Hi,Had some amazing bargains in Asda (pork joints reduced from £9.50 to 9p)

However, for the serious bargain hunter the best time for reductions is Sainsburys on Christmas Eve. Because the store is closed until Boxing Day they usually have about three days worth of stock to get rid of!1

I've gone for the last three years and got trifles, joints, fish etc

Best time is about 3pm - i know this is a busy day but a lot of the stuff can be frozen and is great for over the holidays!!
