As I posted earlier, my husband had written confirmation, also a letter stating the amount that was to go into his account(within 45 days). This policy was sold after Jan 2005, yet they have told us today that it has been frozen and he will be refunded after the review.
LLoydsTSB upheld this complaint themselves, we didn't have to go to the FOS.
    That is plain WRONG.

It has gone very quiet on the FSA and Financial Ombudsman front. Are they just going to let the BBA get away with putting certain PPI claims on hold or actually remind them of their quote of last week that "PPI claims should till be handed until court case" I have emailed both organisations to ask but no response so far. What's the point of having a regulator if it is actually toothless??
FSA and FOS have around 3 weeks at this stage to respond.

3 weeks? do you know where this time limit comes from?

Read over on another site that the FSA are going to get tough and are seeking legal advice as to enforcing an injucntion on rogue banks not processing complaints unaffected by the JR.

Post 2005 complaints bascially should not be on hold, they do have a point about pre reg complaints being affected.

So hopefully, pretty much soon enough we shall see what the FSA are all about!

21 days for acknowledgment of service is JR procedure http://www.justice.gov.uk/civil/procrules_fin/contents/parts/part54.htm#IDA5KOVB

This is exactly what happened to me, they have had my acceptance since the end of Aug but have only just allocated it to someone to work out how much I was getting back. But of course it is on hold now till after the court case!!! They have admitted they were wrong and I was entitled to my money back but not til it suits them it seems:mad:
  • Hi all. My saga is getting very very convoluted the more it goes on. I have been claiming against Lloyds for three years now and the claim has been yo-yoing to colossal proportions. The latest is that Lloyds have sent me a letter saying how sorry - deeply sorry - that I have been put on hold and that they pride themselves in good customer relations blah blah. The last letter had someone elses account details and I complained to our dear dear Eric. This latest one STILL had the other persons information even though Lloyds had said that this was a terrible error and that the person would be retrained etc. It wouldnt happen again they said! A week later and the same thing happened again!!! I am at a loss as to how these people think whilst grovelling and squirming. Of course I shall write again to undersigned (I have had that many 'advisors' that I have now lost count) person and point out in a very polite and courteous way that they have crossed the line not only once but twice and that is only the tip of the iceburg.....

There must be someone out there who is going through this shameful and disgusting way - surely????

    Hi Mrs S

Have you contacted the Information Commissioner Office (ICO) about this, report it to them.
    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx

They will not be open until office hours now on Monday, but for this to happen twice its just not on.

  • Di - thanks for that. I have just gone on that website and I shall ring them on Teusday AM. I am so perturbed with this wriggling and squirming that when I read the letter I just COULDNT comprehend the audacity of Lloyds. I am dashing a letter and another email to Eric Daniels this morning so I shall let you know what the result is - or not as the case may be...

If your complaint is against the local branch of some bank or building society there is a certain amount you can do locally. Bear in mind that a local branch manager is responsible for the performance of the branch, and local reputation has a large part to play in that.
The first thing to do is to try to get as high up the ladder as possible, as far as the branch manager; or at least the assistant manager. There's little point in dealing with the counter staff, who are probably just doing what they see as their job in refusing your request.
If you cannot get through to the big cheese, or if you do and it doesn't help, try and interest the local newspaper in the story. They may well contact the manager for an interview, and even if they don't get one it will send a strong message.
You could go into the branch at a time when there are lots of customers there and make a scene. Demand to see the manager. Demand your money back. Make a nuisance of yourself within the branch, within legal bounds of course. Walk up and down the pavement outside, carrying a placard demanding justice. If you stand still you could be arrested for obstruction (this is the case in UK law) but if you keep moving it's quite legal (don't write anything libellous on the placard, though).
