  • £48 is a lot of money and therefore I would be inclined to agree not to complete the transaction.

It's £48.00 with £3.50 postage. It's a slendertone belt and he has been bidding all week on it.

Your £3.50 postage rather assumes you have only quoted for recorded delivery. Recorded on an item over £32 is not sufficient regardless of whether or not you believe this guy might try it on, the belt must be sent special delivery with the correct amount of insurance to protect you against loss by the Royal Mail.

Never risk anything in the post unless you are insured against the RM losing it. COP up to £32, special delivery or parcel post over £32.

When I first started selling everything was sent by Recorded Delivery but for low cost items this became quite expensive, although recommended by paypal, so after the new PIP postage rates were introduced I changed a lot of my items to First Class Packet/Letter but give the customers the option to choose Recorded Delivery.

The higher cost or bulkier items always go Recorded and anything over £32 will be sent as Special Next Day (weight up to 2kg) or by Parcel Post with insurance. If I get multiple purchases then I look at their feedback and the cost of their items bought and decide what is the best way to send before combining an invoice but on the whole 99.9% of customers are fine.

A few of my friends never use Recorded and some of their items, especially if multiple buys can add up to a lot.

Don't worry to much about your customer not being confirmed as a lot of mine are too and touch wood I've not had a problem. I remember after a few months of trading calling paypal to check and they said "it isn't a problem and a lot of UK addresses aren't confirmed". I also get asked to send to their work addresses, friends addresses etc and this hasn't been a problem either.

I hope it all works out okay.
  • Thanks for all the advice. I am going to post special delivery and learn my lesson to put on enough postage for Items costing a bit.

  • Hi there

The seller has received the item but is now claiming it's not working. She paid by PayPal.

I tested it before I posted it and it was fine.

Given the "can I cancel mail" I suspect if I do agree to a return the item will be "not working" by the time I get it back. I have 77 stars a 100% feedback.

    Any suggestions

  • Hi there

Sorry pc crashed ! They have said it's not working. I assume they mean you switch it on and nothing happens, not broken as in ripped.

Depends what you stated in your t&c on your EBay listing. If you didn't state anything about accepting returns then don't accept it and tell them it was tested and was working when you sent it, therefore it must have been damaged in transit and a claim must be made via Royal Mail.

If you did state you accepted returns you will have to accept it and i would make a claim with Royal Mail.

If you don't accept it back and they start a paypal chargeback it is more than likely they will find in the buyers favour and refund them anyway.
