Wanted to bump up this thread as I have a lot of excess credit on my phone at the moment. I've donated to Women's Aid and the Pakistan Flood Appeal by text so far. I'm not sure how many of the ones mentioned previously in this thread are still going, but if anyone knows of any more recent ones, do add them here0

I'd encourage people to give to any of the organisations listed other than Women's Aid. I'm sure they do some good work, but I really don't think it's right to refuse to help vicitms because of their gender and to play politics with the issue of domestic violence. I suggest people read up on the early history of Women's Aid / Refuge to find out more about them. We've had previous discussions about those organisations in this forum and the consensus was that we should support domestic violence charities who help victims irrespective of gender, age or race.
If you do want to help domestic violence vicitms there are now some far, far better organisations out there out there who don't have a hidden agenda. I'd recommend the National Center for Domestic Violence http://www.ncdv.org.uk/ although I don't think you can donate via sms unfortunately.
There's also a former branch of Women's Aid in Wales who were kicked out of the Women's Aid Federation for helping men. So it would be good to support them too:

Couple more :
£5 to EllenorLions Hospices (see http://www.locallifedesign.co.uk/clients/lionshospice/index.asp?textpage=home&mainpage=home)Text YES to 70700 to donate £5 now!
£5 to the Gumpathon (see http://www.thegumpathon.com/index.php?page=Terms-and-Conditions)Please ensure you spell the SMS keyword carefully - ‘ GUMP’ - and send your text message to the correct shortcode; 70800.All money raised from the Gumpathon will go towards helping these people through the work of three charities: Help for Heroes (H4H), the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund and the US Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. All three raise funds to support wounded and ill members of the Armed Forces, and their families, throughout their recovery period.0 -
Oh word of warning on this, with text donations, the networks generally end up with quite a large proportion of the actual donation, so on 'normal' shortcodes (5 digit number), the cause can sometimes only get about 55-60% of the fee charged.
The networks have started to change things, and are now doing 'charity' shortcodes, where their cut is lower than normal, but may be worth looking to see what money is actually hitting the charity in question
