Charities Board

We’re struggling at the moment with the huge volumes of messages we’re getting from Forumites about coronavirus and the impact it’s having on their finances. We’re a small team, with limited resources, but we’re doing our best to manage this spike in demand.

At this time, please note the Charities Board should only be used by registered charities and not include personal posts. I’m afraid we will have to delete any posts that aren’t from a registered charity. If you are facing personal financial difficulties at the moment, please use MSE’s coronavirus guides – they contain all the info we have and are constantly being updated:

  • There are some charities that accept text donations. before you do it, can I just check that you know that the cost of the SMS usually goes to your service provider, and that the donation then comes off your credit/is added to your bill.

Usually the company that manages the system takes a cut too.

Text ‘Pink’ to 83338 to download your very own pink ribbon*.

plus it will cost you the usual cost of your text message.

  • Macmillan Cancer Support now uses WAP
    to increase donation revenue,

    Here’s how it works.
You donate money by sending SUPPORT to 85222
which then takes £3 from your mobile bill.

 All straight so far. However: -

Once the donation has been made a WAP Push message is sent
to the donors phone asking them to go online
to a Macmillan-branded Mobile Internet Gift Aid form
where they can confirm they are a taxpayer,

This allows Macmillan to claim an additional 28% from HM Revenue & Customs. :T :T :T

 Think This is a first for the charity industry.

:T That’s pretty nifty dont you think? :T

  • I think BCC are one of the first Gift Aid ones - and I love to see Gift Aid on donations. Their system is possibly the way forward. Gift Aid is certainly the way forward.

Thank you for coming to see us!

There are so many ways you can help support serving and ex-Service men, women and their families in their hours of need.

This year, the Legion is offering you a different way to give to the Poppy Appeal! By texting the word POPPY to 85099, you can download one of three Poppy images to your mobile phone in return for a donation of £1.50

Each download (two of which are animated) feature the Poppy icon with the words 'Remember' and the time and date of the Two Minute Silence on 11th November

By downloading the Poppy you will also receive a text reminder on the day before 11th November to remind you to pause for the Two Minute Silence.
