OK, I'm going to have to be the idiot in this thread and ask what is wrong with the guy in the doorway. So he's wearing a tracksuit. I wear tracksuit bottoms in bed to keep me warm and sometimes get up very late because I can work what hours I like but I pay my taxes and my rent on time and have never knowingly lowered the value of a house.

Or is there something I've missed? I've zoomed in but the pic isn't very sharp.

Do you stand in the doorway topless too?! :D

It's not to do with his dress per se. But you can clearly see he's scum, backed up by the images of the living room.

This one is 3 to the left of Mr Grundies. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-16545639.html
3-beds, 'immaculate', garden. £145k. £145k is also what they paid for it at the peak.

Check out the stolen speed restriction sign in the bedroom.

Nearly the whole road/corner is up for sale and heavily discounted. Flats on the corner are going for about £70k and they were more like £120k at the peak.

Poor areas always suffer worst in a market downturn.

    Thought Cornwall was expensive.

It is when you look at employment opportunities and average wages.

    And that bit's rough.

There are lots of cheap houses dotted here and there, where there's no/little work and where wages are silly low.

I think Cornwall is the only place that is in the "bottom wages" league -and- in the "top house prices" league.

It's the only county in the UK still receiving European money because it's one of the poorest regions of Europe.

It's got the highest 2nd home ownership numbers.

The water rates are the highest in the UK too, with 3% of the population paying for about 30% of the country's sea/beaches to be cleaned.

You could pick up £480/month for that 1-bed place, or you can tart it up and rent it out as a holiday cottage at £350-800/week.

Can you? I can only see a topless man in tracksuit bottoms. What do you see that I don't? I'm not trying to flame, I'm genuinely curious because I don't get it. Is it because of what he's wearing, what he isn't wearing, his pose or something else?

Graham_Devon - not generally but I have been known to wear short skirts sometimes. Lord knows the damage I've done to my LL's wallet.

That old saying "If you can't see the problem...." springs to mind.

Maybe my screen is better than yours (doubtful).

I can't explain ... you either see it, or you don't.

"Picture" in the living room over the fireplace
Junk on the living room table
leather jacket hanging on the wall
    state of the garden

AND the trackie bums on streetview.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

OK, so the picture over the fireplace isn't the nicest, I'm with you there.

The table is mildly messy - but I saw this and thought "why didn't the agent tidy it before they took the photos? Why didn't the LL insist that it got tidied?" In the context of day to day living, it isn't really that messy. And it isn't visibly dirty.

Leather jacket on the wall. And? So the man owns a leather jacket. All leather jackets bring down the tone of a street?

I'd be more concerned by the boarded up pane on the door than the state of the garden.

Pastures New - "If you can't see the problem...." - seriously? Just because I am not as judgmental as you are, you decide that I must "be the problem"? I do think some non-issues (tracksuit bottoms, leather jacket) have been mixed with some possible issues (state of the garden, picture in the front room).
