^^^^ That say's so much about what sort of person you are.but as my dear old mum (who was very proud of me FYI) used to say. "any bloke with a !!!!!! can be a father, but it takes a real man to be a dad"
i decided the child should not only have a father, but a dad. i have had to fight for the "priviledge" of seeing my daughter and had her used as a weapon to beat me with for years, but i refused to give up. my daughter has the RIGHT to 2 parents and i have concreted that bond.
There are many who pro create and walk away never looking back, never caring about the child they created.
 I never had a real man!*SIGH*

Thanks Speedster - but we're not all against you!!! I only asked!!!
I just wondered if my accountant was doing a good job or not or there was something I was missing.0 -
Juliet, (just my opinion), but my hubs is also self-employed, times are hard at the moment (for all of us I know, S/E or otherwise), work is harder to get than previously, and not as well paid as previously either. But a good accountant can offset legitimate expenses for the business, that would otherwise just be another bill to pay, and would be added to the taxable money pot.
I'm not suggesting any parents swindle each other or falsify books/earnings, but all I 'm saying is, there can be savings in the form of business expenses that a good accountant can offset against the business, thus freeing up more money for the NRP day to day living/CSA assessment.
But of course I am aware that a minority only put fraction of work through books to avoid CSA payments0 -

i know juliet!
as bdt1 as pointed out, legitimate expenses reduce your tax liability. take a figure of an income of say 20k.
by the time you take out vehicle costs, equipment, tools, work clothes etc, a figure of 9-10k of actual taxable profit is easily achievable. sometimes as low as 5-7k depending on circs.
i'm LTD which is what myself (and many other SE) have been advised to do for a while now. my wife works for the company too, therefore her wage comes out of the company profits as do my wages. the credit crunch year was particularly bad and after wages, minimal dividends and legitimate expenses i had a taxable income of nil from a turnover of roughly 18k.
and that was without bending anything or taking a chunk in dividends. had it been an average year for me, TI would have only been about 6-8k anyway.
so, depending on how astute your accountant is, then 80k can easily come down considerably.
if you need any info etc about SE or LTD, just PM me.

There is a big difference in trying all you can to reduce maintenance payments for someone who relies on benefits to look after and doing so when the wpc is working hard too and suffering the same economic hardship.
I have quite a few colleagues who work full-time and have to deal with nrps who either don't pay at all or are doing everything to pay as little as possible, leaving them to support their children on their own. I am one of them too.
Speeder, you might have a good reason to feel bitter and angry towards your ex, but remember that there are also good pwcs who come here for advice, and reading your messages and how happy you are that your ex only got £5 a week can come across as quite offensive.0 -
tbh fbaby, i couldn't care less if it comes over as offensive.
she put herself in that situation because of her anger and greed. she lied through her teeth, committed fraud and cut contact to get her own way.
when i refused to roll over and play dead and fought back, she didn't like it. at the end of the day, i paid what was LEGALLY required of me. i wasn't the one breaking the law. i left that to her.
she came unstuck with the csa and she came unstuck in court. check mate.
and before one of you or the other "experts" on family law pipe up, YES littlun does still live with mother as at her age, her wishes count for nothing as she isn't classed as GC yet.
and if you knew the teeeeeniest bit about family law, then you would know that unless there are SERIOUS welfare issues, then a RO application is gonna fail in the draconian female biased system that we have, so don't show yourself up harping on about how littlun is still with the mother.
leave that to the established "non expert" in family law. no doubt she'll wade in with her inane ramblings once she sees i'm posting again.NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT. THEY'LL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL AND BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.

mmm, I think you made it clear that you adjusted your earnings to make sure you didn't pay. You might have managed through loopholes to make it legal, but in the end, you were still not contributing the right percentage of what was coming to you at the end of the month.
I'm not defending your ex though. I have a particular hatred for benefit cheats and/or those who are on benefits and intend on remaining on them for a long time because they are too lazy and opportunistic to go and get a job. If your ex posted her, I doubt I would have nice words for her, but as I said, do remember that we are not all like your ex, far from it, and going on and on about how horrible your ex is, how pleased you are with yourself because you managed to get back at her, and all your judgemental statements just aren't pleasant to read.0 -
nah. just a bit of creative accountancy. as i've said, it's what we pay them for.

and we all have a bit of resentment, to a point, that's why we're all here and revenge is indeed a sweet dish. there's few things as pleasurable than seeing someone get what's coming to them.
debates about things always get emotional. it's only natural. if you cant stand the heat, then perhaps a nice pink fwuffy woom with wickle fwuffy wabbits is a better place than the kitchen.

Well that's better, a little bit of humbleness and some humour and you are already more attractive
