How do you tell the difference between a joking remark which you have taken far too seriously because you do tend to be over-sensitive and a 'joke' that was actually meant IYSWIM.

That is tricky. Was it written or verbal. Written words can be misconstrued as they lack the facial expression, tone etc. Verbal words can be misunderstood if we don't know the person well, their sense of humour or are generally feeling overy sensitive. There are also people who like to say things in a jokey way because they think they can get away with it or pretend it was a joke afterwards when they feel guilty about what they said. Most importantly hun 'don't sweat the small stuff' what is said is said and done is done but have a hug.

I have 30 minutes now before taking DS1 to ortho so I'm going to do the dusting and remember to take my knitting with me ;)

I am very uncomfortable and feel like I am going mad. I am going to try some heat against my neck but not sure the best way to go about it as OH didn't get my heat pad from the top of the wardrobe. Might have to see which is easier to reach, the heat pad or hunting out a hot water bottle. I don't have the pain that has been crippling me but I ache a lot but worse. I tried lying flat on my back, resting my neck backwards, to the side and forwards and I can't get any relief. Hopefully I will find some relief soon or the car journey to my mum's in a few hours is going to be torture.

*Ahem*.... Not exactly a ToyBoy, but I know of an available chap, only one (not-too-careful) owner, house-trained, can cook (asked me for my cheese straws recipe - and has made some himself!!), good with animals and small boys (he has 2 of the latter), intelligent (can do the Telegraph crossword)..... Shall I have him gift-wrapped and sent over?:D:D:D:D:D

Valli, sorry to hear about your friend;:( thank goodness she didn't challenge the scumbags and get hurt. Scary stuff – happened to a pub landlady near here a while back, and really it does shake the poor victim up badly.

Seafarers stay hopeful; *may* not be home isn't *won't* be home. When's the wedding to be? Sending get-the-man-home-in-time vibes.

Could I trouble you all for phone-stay-quiet vibes for Sunday evening please? I'll explain... Mr LW is on 24-hour on-call for a week from today, and we're going to see Damh the Bard perform at the Earthlore Moot on Sunday evening. So Mr LW will have to have his work phone with him (albeit on silent – he's going to wear his “lumberjack” shirt, which has a breast pocket he can put it in). The probability of him being called then is vanishingly small, but a few vibes wouldn't hurt.;)

OK, Quorn sandwich decluttered, so back to the grindstone.
